The world changes drastically from this point on. There is a thick, heavy mist that hangs in the air. The mist is cold and very clammy as it whips about with long tendrils. The mist is thick and just a bit of light ever penetrates. The road is lined with large, twisted trees, and the foliage is dark and sickly. Eyes stare out of these trees, eyes that glare with hate and fear. Nothing is as it seems.
The misty fog looms all around. The trees reach out over the path, grabbing and entangling all that pass by. Screams echo deep within the forest, the eyes are still glaring out from high in the trees. Deep grooves are worn into the dark reddish dirt road. The grooves are from wagon wheels, and hoof marks are mixed in as well.
The dirt road is rocky and has many holes and uneven areas. The road is lined with trees that are so deformed and twisted, that it is hard to tell where one ends and another begins. The foliage on the trees is a dark, sickly shade of green. There are many small mushrooms of sickly shades that thrive along the tree trunks. Deep growls and screams echo out from within the forest.
The dark, reddish dirt road continues to the west as the mist continues to hang heavy in the air. There are bits of broken wheels scattered along the side of the road. They must have been there a long time, for now the grass and vines have started to cover them. The trees seem to reach out with twisted fingers to grab and tear clothing. The screaming still echoes from deep within the forest.
Along this dirt road stands a very old and weather beaten sign. The sign has been hammered into the ground. It stands near a small path into the forest. The sign reads "BEWARE: the evil of the forest" The dirt road turns south and the trees are a bit thinner. The darkness of the thick mist seems to be clearing a little toward the south.
Shrouded in the mist, one can barely see the road underfoot. Ever so often an old ragged sign sticks high out of the reddish, dried dirt which reads "SageMist Road". It is a good name for such a road as this. There are small but deformed sage plants that grow all along the road, and the road itself is hidden from the sun, or even the moon, by an ever present mist.

As SageMist road comes to an end, it takes a sharp turn south onto a dirt trail. There are many kinds of foliage growing along the dirt trail. The trees are dark and have a thick, black sap dripping down the sides. A closer look shows small insects and flies stuck in this sap. There are many sounds of birds that echo in the air, and grunts and groans also echo forth from within the darkened woods.
The dirt path leads south towards a deeper part of the surrounding woods. The dirt path has become very muddy and one's feet tend to stick in the black-brown muck. The mist hangs heavy in the air, making it impossible to see very far ahead. The thickness of the mist makes the trees appear to move, and yellow eyes leer out from the mist cloaked trees. A root jumps out to trip, and a long, twisted branch reaches out and rips at one's clothing and skin.

The muddy trail makes a slow but noticeable turn to the west as it leads deeper into the ever encroaching forest. The black sap makes sickly waves of a sticky trap, to catch and hold insects and bugs. The sap, at some part of the trees, is so thick and black that it looks quite disgusting. The trees seem to sway within the mist and shrill sounds still echo from deep within the forest.
As the forest looms ever close to the road, the muddy trail has become almost invisible in the grass that grows over it. There is a black wetness that lingers on the greenery, a mixture of sap and mist. The trees are deformed and twisted into each other, looking like one large, wooden mass. The branches reach across to the road as if trying to entangle anything within their clutches.

The dirt road has become just a little trail weaving its way throughout a dark and foreboding forest. There is, off in the distance towards the south, a large gate. From here all that can be seen in the darkness of it is its outline, barely reaching out above the mist. The road turns to the south and continues in that direction.
Here, barring the way deeper into the forest, is a large iron gate. It goes east and west into the forest. The gate is old and rusty, and it has that black wetness dripping down its metal pieces. The iron gate is closed and the greenery of the forest has grown all up, down and through it. The gate lock itself is hardly noticeable, just peeking out from within the foliage that surrounds it.
If one listens hard enough, sounds of a city can be heard toward the north. The road has become almost paved, and a large sign stands every few feet, stuck deep into the ground. The sign is hand carved into a nice piece of wood and, even though marred with age from having to be in the constant mist, it is still readable. It says "BloodMist Road". The forest thins out a little down this stretch of road, and a ray of light peeks past the mist onto the ground. The air is full of city smells and city sounds. What a wonderful place must lie ahead. But wait all is not always what it seems....

As this road goes north it leads into a large city. The city is not protected by a wall but spreads out into the surrounding area. This part of the road is well used and shows sign of wear and tear. There are many holes and grooves dug deep into the ground. This is from the many wagons and animals that must track along the road. The trees are not as twisted as the ones toward the south, but they are still foreboding and still seem alive.
A large sign sticks up out of the road, it reads "Nartok". The sign appears to be almost rotted away with age and decay. The word on the sign has been painted over an older, more faded word, possibly the same. It must be the town's name, for all around can be heard the sounds of people, animals and other city noises.
A small dirt path seems to lead north off of the main road. It leads deeper into the looming forest of blackened and twisted trees. The mist is still thick and clings to the skin. The dirt path is almost a muddy thickness due to the mist mixing with the dry dirt. The path turns to the northeast ahead.
The dirt path almost disappears into the thick, sickly green foliage that has overgrown the path. Twisted ivy-like plants grow from both sides of the path and entwine as it grows up the blackened twisted trees.
The foliage covered path ends here, but the forest looms overhead. The forest echoes with many sounds, some are just whispers, others are screams. The forest is dark and the trees are almost an impassable barrier, but a way through the twisted trees is possible.
A feeling of evil and death is apparent as one enters this tangled mass of trees. The trees themselves seem to be leering and snickering. Eyes of yellow peek through the tangled mass of trees and plants. The trees are so twisted together it's impossible to tell where one tree ends and another begins.
Along the forest floor and extending up the trees, the green ivy has formed a massive wall of plant life. The ivy is so dense and thick, but there are walkable ways deeper into the forest. There are some strange mushrooms and other fungus growing along the bottom of the ivy. Living in the ivy are small bugs and spiders that are the same shade as the blackened trees.
It is odd to find such a small glen in this twisted mass of blackened forest, but here a bit of light finds its way down. The mist that is always present is very light, and the rays of light filter through it giving a strange glow to the area. The twisted branches of the trees even allow a darker shade effect as the light hits them.
Going deeper into the forest one will find this small path. It leads off in all four directions. The path has been cut out of the area, someone has clearly pushed or cut the plants away to allow this small path deep within the forest.
The path leads into a much darker and more overgrown part of the forest. No light reaches through the thick blackened forest trees. The path here shows little sign of use except for some animal tracks. The mist is very heavy along here. The moistness of the mist has all but turned the path into a large mud puddle.

Deep inside the forest, the trees grow thick together. It is dark in the dense forest, and movement through the heavy underbrush is difficult. The feeling of being watched permeates the grove. Luminous yellow eyes peer out from the tree trunks and eerie haunting hoots echo here, giving the area an ominous feel.

The underbrush grows thickly, forming a dense but deformed thicket. There is much evidence of animal life here, as tangled in with the plant growth are bones, fur, cloth and other things that are no longer recognizable. The smell of blackened mud and acrid musk is very strong here. It looks like it has been the home to many animals, or the grave for many animals.
Travel is difficult, as the forest tries to reclaim the almost invisible path for its own. This path does not show much sign of use, and the branches of the pine trees grow thick over the path. The wind blows through the trees with an eerie sound. Occasionally, there is a crack and a crash, as a tree prunes itself by dropping a branch onto the forest floor. Yellow eyes leer out from the trees themselves and echoing screams are heard in the distance.
Bubbling up from an underground source is a crystal clear pool of water. The water has a thin layer of mist hanging along its surface, which moves ever so gently as a cool breeze blows by. Along the water's edge are partially decayed bodies of small animals, some have half eaten berries in their mouths. The pool is surrounded by the deformed trees and a few berry bushes that also thrive here, but the fruit is slimy and rotten. A small forest animal slowly walks towards the water's edge, licks up a little bit of water, and goes into horrible convulsions and dies.
The stillness here is very disconcerting, and it gives a feeling of apprehensiveness. It makes one not wish to stay here long. The air inside the gate is calm and still. There is a small dry path that twists and turns its way south. The mist of this place is just like a droplet of rain, barely noticeable.
The path is used little, as it has become choked with dry weeds and brittle grass. It winds its way south toward what appears to be a group of large, colorful wagons and a roaring campfire. The path has many wagon ruts which make walking slow, as to avoid falling and twisting an ankle. .
Moving south along the rut ridden trail, the dry weeds and grass crackle underfoot. The forest is draped by the mist, as it hangs like a sticky web. The campfire light from the south glows like evil eyes through the mist. Toward the west can be seen a large, colorful wagon. The trail goes south towards the campfire or back north towards the gate.
The trail moves toward the west as it nears a colorful wagon. The mist hangs in the air like tendrils and wisps across the skin. The chilliness of the air goes straight to the bone. To the south can be seen the glow of a large campfire, burning like evil eyes in the night. The forest that surrounds this small area is darkened by the mist. The dry grass underfoot crackles like the flame of a fire.
To the west rests a large, covered wagon. Its wheels are resting between two large blocks of stone, holding the wheels in place. The wheels are decorated with multicolored beads along the wooden spokes. A large metal blade of blue decorates the center of each wheel. There are steps leading up to a door in the center of the wagon. The frame is covered with large cloth sheets. The colors of these sheets give the wagon a rainbow look. The grass under the wagon just barely touches its base. There is just a bit of firelight from the campfire to the south, which glows upon the wagon, casting shadows that dance in the moonlight.
The inside of the wagon is filled with wonderful and pretty things. The firelight glows through the colorful sheets, basking the inside with a rainbow light. Hanging from the center of the wagon is a beautiful glass figurine, shaped like a snarling beast. Pictures of beautiful green and lush forest hang over a bed of silk and velvet. The only exit is back towards the east.
A large campfire dominates this small area, its warm light sheds an eerie glow to the whole group of wagons. The fire is almost the size of a bonfire and is kept burning with the dry grass and bits of wood that fall from the trees. The flames dance like a sensuous fairy, drawing one into its hypnotic dance. The flames beckon to all within sight of its flames, to come rest and feel safety and warmth.
To the east is a large covered wagon. Its wheels are resting between two large blocks of stone. The wheels are decorated with multicolored bits of glass along its wooden spokes. There are steps leading up to a wooden door. The rainbow colored cloth blows gently in the soft night air. The bit of firelight from the fire to the west casts shadows that dance in the darkness.
This wagon is the main meeting place of the gypsies. Its inside is filled with many treasures. The floor is covered with a white fur. The dresser to one side is covered with gems and stones of many sizes and colors. The dresser itself is made of a hard wood. There are many small chests of bone, ivory, wood and a kind of black metal that are stacked neatly around the room. In the back of the wagon is a tapestry bearing the image of a snarling beast running through the forest. The camp fire casts shadows of rainbows all about the inside. The forest sounds echo in the distance.
This is a small area just west of the main campfire. It appears to be just a couple of smaller cooking fires. One of the smoldering fires has a large pot of stew-like stuff. The other fire has a large animal on a twirling stick. This fire sizzles as warm juice drops off the cooking meat.
To the south is another large covered wagon. Its wheels are resting between two large blocks of stone. The wheels are decorated with multicolored beads and glass along the wooden spokes. A large glass dome of reddish-orange decorates the center of each wheel. The firelight glows from the north casting eerie shadows that dance upon the rainbow colored wagon.
The wagon is filled with many kinds of trinkets and pretty items. A bed of furs and leather is in one corner. A small wooden box has a silver mirror on it, as well as a brush and a few other trinkets. There is such a woman's touch to this wagon.
Going west along the rut ridden trail, the dry weeds and grass crackle underfoot. The forest is dark and gloomy as the mist hangs like a spider-spun web in the air. The campfire light to the east glows like evil eyes in the mist.
As the path turns southward, it becomes very dusty as the dry weeds and grass crackle underfoot. The forest is blanketed with a thick mist. The campfire light from the northeast glows like evil eyes peering into the soul. Towards the south can be seen a large tent. This tent seems to house horses and other such animals. The soft echoes of these creatures fill the night.
A large group of horses and other livestock are tied to wooden stakes in the ground. The makeshift tent is mostly here to protect the livestock from the elements. Each animal has a pail of food and a container of water. These animals do seem well cared for.
To the south is another large covered wagon. Its wheels are resting between large blocks of stone. The wheels have braided hair with glass colored beads hanging down from their center. A large plate of yellow glass rests in the center of each wheel. The wagon is covered with sheets of various colors, and the fire from the north glows and casts a rainbow shadow upon it.
The firelight seeps softly through the coverings of the wagon, as the inside glows in a rainbow of color. There are just a few decorations in the wagon: A bone and ivory dagger, a jade comb and other such things. The sleeping area is made of soft furs and velvet coverings. Hanging from a length of braided wire is a skull. It does not appear to be human, but that of some deformed and snarling beast.
Bloodmist road leads to Nartok. Nartok is a rather average sized town. This town seems to thrive in the darkness and mist that surrounds it. There is a small, worn cobblestone path that leads north towards Nartok. The path is slightly overgrown with grass and weeds. The mist hangs thick in the air like a cold, wet blanket. The glowing light from the city is like an alluring spell drawing you close to its embrace.
The cobblestone path turns to the west here leading into the city. The sounds of city business can be heard. The eeriness of the mist lingers, even this close to the city gates. The dark trees fade into the surrounding mist as the path gets closer to the city.
The city is surrounded by a high wooden barrier, with many towers along the length of the wall. The entrance to the tower has two towers on either side of an iron gate. The noise of all the activity inside the city echoes up and over the wall. There is a yellowish light that glows from inside the city. It has an almost hypnotic attraction. A sweet but strangely revolting scent is strong as one enters the city gates.
Once on the other side of the gate, the first perception of the city is one of light and noise. The streets are full of people going about their daily business. The town glows with a yellowish light, given off by the candles lit in hanging lanterns. Most of the buildings are single story, but some appear to be larger than that. Once inside the gate the street goes north or west.
This is one of the many streets of the city of Nartok. There are wrought iron street lamps that are lit at all times. The street is well trodden and shows much wear. It is inlaid with tar and black cobblestones. Every once in a while a street sign is attached to one of the lamps. It reads "Sage Street"
This alley leads to Sage Road to the east, but it also continues to the west. To the north is a large building with a few stories and many windows. There are steps leading up to a closed door. A statue of a guard stands on each side of the door. A large plaque is hanging on the door. The black cobblestones are firm and solid under foot. The sounds of many men can be heard within the building.
This is a large room for meetings and general enjoyment of the troops. There are many places to sit down and relax. Tables for games of cards, dice, chess or other group games stand here. There is a large open chest filled with ice and bottles. Fresh baked goods are stacked in rows on a table. Bowls of dried fruits and nuts are sitting in various spots. This is a nice place to relax and spend time with the other guards. There are also bookcases with many books on the history of Nartok, weapons, fighting and other subjects. There are exits to the south, west and north.
This is a large sleeping area with many rows of bunk beds, allowing more bodies to be housed here. Each bed has a dark green blanket and pillow. Under the bottom beds are small chests, and sitting at the foot of each bed is also a small chest. Each are numbered with a T or B.
This appears to be a bath area, with many large wooden tubs covered with tar. Soap floats in a bit of water left in a tub. There are stacks of clean and folded towels in an open chest in one corner of the room. A few shelves hang on the walls, there are other personal items there, like brushes, combs, razors and bowls of soapy foam.

Each trunk is numbered with a T or B. Each bed has a pillow, green blanket and some have candle holders hanging on them.
This small alley cuts behind some of the buildings along the outskirts of the city. The street is not as damaged and in need of repair as other alleys in town. Trash litters the street. The cold, eerie, cat-like howling wind blows swiftly, but softly, down the alley.
This small alley cuts behind some of the buildings along the outskirts of the city. As it nears the guards barracks the street becomes less rocky and broken. Trash litters the street, forming small piles as it sticks to the sour, rancid puddles of liquid scattered down the street. The wind blows down the alley with a cold, cat-like howl.

The stables are mostly just used to house the work animals used by the guards, or for hauling things out to the surrounding areas. There are a few animals here that are personal mounts for the high ranking people of Nartok. Nothing is out of the ordinary.
More stable space is here, each is kept neat and clean. These each have a half door that latches. There is a wooden bucket for water and one for food. Since different animals are housed here, there are different sized areas. The back part of the stables is not used much right now. The only way out is back to the south.

A sudden blast of heat from the forge hits anyone entering this building. The room's temperature has risen to well over the hottest noon day sun. The heat in here is almost unbearable. A bellows system pumps rhythmically in the corner, driven by the steam from a large vat of boiling water. This bellows system is very loud and quite large. There are a few cats just laying around and they don't seem to mind the heat. Many kinds of iron and steel things hang on the walls or just lie around in piles. A few of them are half-plunged into tubs of water, while some others are resting in the hot fires of the forge. A large, shiny, beaded curtain hangs along one of the walls. The fire from the forge flickers off of it, basking the room in an orange glow.
A very simple room lies behind the beaded curtain. The room is lit with a small fire which also serves to heat the room. A small wooden bed covered with a few pillows and a nice woven blanket is in one corner. A small wooden chest rests at the foot of the bed. Sitting on a small round table are a few books and some knives in various stages of being polished. On the floor is a large rug. Sitting on the bed is a large feline, she is over forty pounds and is black-blue in color, with the largest yellow eyes. These eyes follow anyone that moves in the room.
The stones along this road are black and polished. The street lamps emit a yellow glow and the smell of burning flesh is very, very faint. This road leads to a large, dull, black building to the north.

Inside this house everything is neat and well cared for. The shabby looks of the outside of this house are made up for by the loveliness of the inside. It definitely shows a woman's tender love and care. There is a large wooden table with a vase of flowers. These flowers give color and fragrance to the whole house. There are a pair of wooden doors that bar the way deeper into the house. Pots and pans are stacked neatly beside the wood burning stove. On top of the stove is a pot of meat and vegetables.

This is one of the few multi-level buildings in this town. There is a small staircase of marble leading up to a set of doors. On either side of the stairs is a marble statue of a man dressed in armor and wielding a sword. At the base of each statue is a plaque. Above the doors is another marble sign. There are also perpetually burning candles along the steps, giving a sweet but strong smell to this entrance.
There is not much to this room. The walls are decorated with many pictures of the town and surrounding area. There is a long desk that dominates one side of the room. On this desk are some papers and writing pens. There is a large box in the center of the desk. A small notice has been stuck to the top of the desk.
The office is very nicely decorated with dark black wooden furniture. The floor is covered with many dark rugs. Each rug shows cats of all kinds. The mayor has a love of cats which is very clear from all the pictures of these graceful animals that adorn the walls. The window overlooks part of the town, and even up here the sweet but sour odor seeps in.
The private room is also decorated the same way as the office. The floor is covered with a lovely rug showing many cats. There are paintings of cats on the walls, their eyes seem to follow all movement. In one corner of the room is a small desk. The single sized bed is neatly made, and resting on it is a large feline. The cat is deep, dark, black with green eyes. It seems to be watching all in the room.
This is one of the many alleys in the city of Nartok. There are wrought iron street lamps that are lit at all times. The street is well trodden and shows much wear. The black cobblestones are cracked and bits of dry grass grow up and out. On the corner is a street sign which reads "Rose Alley".
The interior of this shop is very bright, shiny, and clean. The walls are covered with pictures of flowers, herbs and trees. The shop is mostly rows upon rows of wooden bins. Each of these bins has a little glass lid. These lids lift up and inside each bin are various kinds of dried plants and herbs. Hanging on the wall are many wooden pegs. These pegs have small cloth bags and wooden thongs. There is a small wooden table and chair that sits in one corner. The room smells wonderful and tends to lift one's spirit. Resting on the floor, counter and under the window are cats. The cats' eyes follow all the activity in the room.

The interior of the shop is dark and gloomy. The accumulated grime on the old broken windows allows very little light to penetrate into the shop. There are rows of shelves lining the walls which contain books, jars of dried powders, and glass containers of liquid. A musky smell permeates from all about the room. Right inside the door is a wooden counter and on the counter is a small metal bell with a sign next to it.
The smoke and smells are overwhelming as one walks into this tavern. There are so many tables, round and square, surrounded by chairs or benches. Wenches wearing very little move like cats about the room filling mugs and bowls. There is a bar further in with a burly man serving drinks. He is covered with tattoos and his bald head is tattooed like a cat's. Many kinds of patrons are enjoying themselves. Further in, through the haze of smoke a stage of some kind is seen further in. Loud music and a sweet voice is heard above all the other sounds.
Further into the tavern is a large wooden stage. It is used for the floor shows. There is a large polished wooden floor, and it's decorated with a long red velvet curtain. The room is filled with smoke and sounds of joyful evening fun.
A long wooden bar with stools dominates this part of the tavern. Small bowls of peanuts and seed line the counter top, and lit candles give light to the place. The wall behind the bar has a large velvet painting of cats playing cards around a table. There are many large kegs of ale, beer and wine on a counter behind the bar. The barkeep is a burly man with tattoos all over his body. His bald head looks like a cat's face. He seems quite busy keeping the patrons in line. From here there is a set of stairs leading up to a hallway, or back east is the sounds of the dancer. The south leads to the back of the bar, and kitchen area.
From behind the bar one can see an entrance into the kitchen, as well as stairs back to the north that go upstairs. Under the counter are large wooden boxes in which the barkeep tosses the used and dirty glasses, bowls and other stuff.
The second floor hallway is not well lit. There is only a single yellow candle that glows like a firefly in the night. There are cobwebs and dust balls in all the corners, and a spider can be seen crawling along the ceiling. There is a single piece of carpet running the length of the floor. It looks like it needs to be swept off, as bits of old and dried food litter the floor.
This room is set up for many to share. There are six sets of bunk beds, Three bunk beds per side. Each bed has a lovely cat print bedspread, sheets and two large pillows. There is a chest to put personal items. There is also a table with fresh, clean towels, a wash cloth and a bowl and pitcher. It's a bit dusty but fit for a night's rest.

This room is almost like the other bedrooms. It has only four sets of bunk beds. Each has a nice quilt, sheets and pillow. There is a pull open closet for personal items. A large pitcher and bowl rest on a table, and a nice stack of towels and soap sit next to the pitcher.
In here are many shelves and cabinets of hand carved wood. Each one is carved with designs of animals and the forest. There is a large open fire pit in one corner, and a large pot of stew is cooking. In another fire pit is a large slab of meat, roasting on a spit. The kitchen is full of wonderful smells of food cooking and roasting. There are cutlery, plates and mugs carved from wood, each is edged with copper or brass. There are large barrels of liquids stacked in another corner and a large wash basin is filled with half washed dishes. There is, in the center of the room, a large table used to prepare the food. Underneath this table is where they store the many pots or pans.
Many shelves line these walls. Stacked in front of these shelves are many earthenware pots filled with cooking oil, meads, wines and other spicy drinks. Lined neatly on the shelves are smaller earthenware pots filled with herbs and spices. There are also large sacks of flour, sugar and ground oats.
This back alley runs behind some of the buildings along the outskirts of the city. The wind howls as it blows bits of trash along the rocky and broken street. The sounds of the city echo as a reminder that the city is active.
This small alley cuts behind some of the rundown buildings. It is in much need of repair. Puddles of a rancid liquid are oozing along the rocky street. The wind blows down this alley with an eerie cat-like howl. The alley continues to the south.
This is a small four-way intersection in town. The streets are of black cobblestone and tar. There are lights hanging on poles that are always lit. An odd, sweet smell is strong along these streets. To the north is a bakery, while to the south is the butcher. To the west is the open bazaar and to the east is a back alley.
The smell of blood and freshly butchered meat assaults the nose as one enters this shop. Hanging from hooks in the ceiling are headless carcasses of meat. Each one is dripping blood from its neck. The blood flows downward toward the center of the room, into a hole in the floor. In the center of the room are a few marble tables on which smaller chunks of meat are cut and in the process of being wrapped for sale.
There are many carts of all sizes, shapes and colors lined up in rows. There are goods from fresh baked pies to hand carved tools. The merchants here sell and trade during hours of daylight. There are so many different aromas hanging in the air. Smells of fresh pies, breads, stews, and ales linger. The vendors watch all customers with careful eyes, looking for those who would steal. The exit out of this busy area is to the east.
The smell of baked bread fills the room. Inside a wood and glass counter are breads of varying types. The mouth waters from the aroma of traditional loaves, to woven creations of dough, to sweet breads and cookies of all kinds. A counter of glass and wood is lined with stools and serves those who want a quick bite. In addition, there are small tables and chairs that rest under the bright, shiny, clean glass window.
Dull black stone stairs lead upward to a massive building. The building is constructed of the same dull black stone as the steps. Scattered about its wall are pale gray stones set into the facade. These stones are carved into the shape of human faces screaming in mortal horror. Clinging to the walls are dead and dying ivy. A huge dome caps the roof. Surrounding the dome are large statues that resemble deformed winged creatures. These stairs lead up to a landing and large wooden doors.
Along the stairs leading up to the temple are hideous and grotesque statues. The statues resemble humans, elves, dwarfs, gnomes and other races. All are screaming in extreme horror. The stairs themselves seem worn from the passage of many footsteps.
The stairs lead up to a set of double doors. The stone frame around the doors has been carved to give the effect of a hideous and gaping mouth. The double doors are made of a thick, smooth and black wood. Handles are carved skulls made out of bone.
Just inside the double doors, a hallway of black polished stone leads north. Another hallway of black veined marble goes east and west. There are three stone fonts filled with water. Each font is carved into a twisted mass of humanoid creatures. The water inside the font is a murky, reddish brown, as if fouled by mud. Occasionally a bubble rises, erupting on the surface with a faint belch that emits a smell reminiscent of clotted blood.
The hallway is very still and dark. Unlit torches line the walls sticking out of the polished, black stone walls. Doors line the hallway on either side. These doors are also made of a dark black wood, just like the double doors at the entrance.

The nave of the temple is right under the large domed ceiling. There are many rows of columns that glow with light. These columns are ghastly. Each has been constructed from human skulls, arranged one on top of the other to form a gruesome cylinder. Each skull is lit with a dim yellow light that shines out of the eye socket. The candles emit a faint odor of burning flesh. Along the floor are set wide rectangular stones, each one bearing writing that is unreadable due to the passage of time. Judging from the spacing of each stone, these must be sepulchers, resting places for the dead.

The focal point of the nave is a wide stone altar that looks as though it has been pieced together from the shattered remnants of tombstones. Across the front, a single line of text has been deeply inscribed.

This alcove contains a statue of fiendish appearance, a horned skeletal head and giant rib cage that is carved so it appears to be draped in a robe. Each eye is set with a glittering glass, and it seems to follow your every move. The walls are a dull but polished black stone.
The altar in this small chapel is a smaller version of the one in the nave of the temple and is also made out of broken tombstones. In the wall behind the altar are three stained glass windows. Each shows a dozen rats in tortured poses, as if they were performing a macabre dance. Not all of the glass is intact, it seems that some of the panels have been shattered.

This room is plainly furnished with a well made bed, small dresser and a small table and chair. The walls are the same black stone as elsewhere in this temple. Large black and red quilts hang on the walls providing the only decoration.
Even with this being a larger room than some others in this temple, it is still sparsely furnished with a roughly hewn wooden table and chair and a simple bed covered with a woolen blanket. The walls are dull polished black stone, and a black rug lies on the floor. The rug is embroidered with images of death. On the bed lies a plain gray hooded robe which has golden sickles embroidered on its sleeves.
The walls of this room are lined with shelves. These hold countless books, scrolls, and stacks of paper. A single table at the far end of the room is flanked by two large wrought iron candelabras. Candles burn brightly, casting a warm, yellow glow upon the papers that are spread out on the table.

Another room lies deep beyond the wall, and a golden coffin rests to the north. Images of death and decay are decorated everywhere on the walls. The black polished walls are covered with silken cloth, and the floor covered in lush rugs, on which images of death are embroidered. The golden coffin radiates a malevolence so powerful it is overwhelming, it is as if Death itself were inside. To approach the coffin would certainly result in one's death, as it would draw the attention of the evil inside.

The northern part of this room is black as night, the walls are made from a polished black stone. Resting in the northern end of the room is a large golden coffin, there is nothing else. The room is deathly cold and nothing seems to be able to produce heat, it is as if the coffin were sucking in all warmth. The room is much warmer to the south, and to stay here would be to invite certain death.

All of a sudden, the coffin begins to open and a strange blackish-orange mist begins to fill the room. You sense something so powerful coming from the coffin, all your instincts tell you to flee now. Staying here would surely mean instant annihilation. As the mist clears, a dark figure can be seen standing in front of the coffin, you should FLEE!!
