A Collapsed Tunnel

The walls and floor of this tunnel are made from a very hard packed earth, roughly formed to make a circular shape. The tunnel leads off to east and west, and through a smoother, carefully made opening to the north. In the ceiling the earth has subsided and forms a narrow tunnel leading upwards.

The Outer Ring

The earth and floor are comprised of hard packed earth, roughly formed into a circular tunnel. It looks exactly the same as any point on the outer ring, the product of a structured, hive like culture.

Intersection in the Outer Ring

The earth and floor are comprised of hard packed earth, roughly formed into a circular tunnel. The difference at this point is that the tunnel leads in three directions - north, south, and west. The western passage looks to have been heavily used, and is much more carefully constructed. Some kind of crystalline mortar has been used to cement the walls in place.

Intersection in the Inner Ring

The walls in this area are fairly smooth, and bear the marks of a well travelled passage. The walls themselves are made from hard packed earth, coated with some kind of crystal. The passage leads east and west, with a cruder more recent passage leading south, and a very worn passage leading north.

A Refuse Pit

This area seems to contain all of the junk that the ants of the hive have found. Mostly it consists of chunks of rock, fragments of crystal, and a few rusty pieces of metal. Here and there however, the corpses of small animals can be seen, having been accidentally killed by the ants who then have no use for them.

Entrance to the Inner Sanctum

This is the real center of activity for the hive. It consists of nothing more than a very large chamber with crystal coated walls. A large number of ants pass through this area, either to the new constructions fanning out in all directions, or down below into the inner sanctum of the hive.

A Refuse Pit

This area seems to contain all of the junk that the ants of the hive have found. Mostly it consists of chunks of rock, fragments of crystal, and a few rusty pieces of metal. However, a large corpse of what was possibly once a human can be seen, half covered in rubble.

The Center of the Inner Sanctum

The walls, floor, and ceiling of this chamber are covered with a coating of crystal that is several feet thick. Ants are scurrying in almost all directions. A shallow ramp leads upwards through a hole in the roof, while identical passages lead in every direction. The passage to the south, however, is strangely devoid of activity, and the ants appear to step reverently as they pass the entrance.

A Crystal Passage

This passage has been carved from the rock by the ants, and then somehow coated in a thick layer of crystal. The passage itself is about 30 feet wide, and leads north-south.

The Crystal Ant Hatchery

This is the center of the southern wall of a very large chamber, almost exactly square, and perhaps 300 feet from one side to the other. About half of the floor is covered with hundreds of large crystal eggs, with the rest taken up by small baby ants. The floor of this chamber is very warm, being somehow heated from below.

About half of the floor is covered with hundreds of large crystal eggs, with the rest taken up by small baby ants. The floor of this chamber is very warm, being somehow heated from below.

About half of the floor is covered with hundreds of large crystal eggs, with the rest taken up by small baby ants. The floor of this chamber is very warm, being somehow heated from below.

This is the southwestern corner of a very large chamber, almost exactly square and perhaps 300 feet from side to side. About half of the floor is covered with hundreds of large crystal eggs, with the rest taken up by small baby ants. The floor of this chamber is very warm, being somehow heated from below.

This is the center of a very large chamber, almost exactly square, and perhaps 300 feet from one side to the other. About half of the floor is covered with hundreds of large crystal eggs, with the rest taken up by small baby ants. The floor here is particularly warm, as if some heat source below is heating it up somehow.

A Crystal Passage

This passage has been carved from the rock by the ants, and then somehow coated in a thick layer of crystal. The passage itself is about 20 feet wide, somewhat narrower than the others, and it leads east-west.

The King's Chamber

This chamber is fairly small, but the walls have been perfectly carved and coated with crystal. About half of the room is taken up by a raised platform which acts as a throne for the crystal ant king. There is little activity in here, and this chamber seems only slightly less important than the others.

The Queen's Chamber

Brilliant patterns of light reflect from the perfect crystal walls of this huge chamber. In the northeast corner, a raised platform serves as a throne for the crystal ant queen herself. The place is a hive of activity as crystal ants scurry all about.

A Narrow Crystal Passage

This passage has been carved from the rock by the ants, and then somehow coated in a thick layer of crystal. This passage is far narrower than the others on this level, and it appears as if no ants ever come in this direction.

A Narrow Crystal Passage

This passage has been carved from the rock by the ants, and then somehow coated in a thick layer of crystal. This passage is far narrower than the others on this level, and it appears as if no ants ever come in this direction. An odd sensation of power tingles in the air, emanating from the south.

This passage has been carved from the rock by the ants, and then somehow coated in a thick layer of crystal. This passage is far narrower than the others on this level, and it appears as if no ants ever come in this direction. The sensation of power is quite strong here, and the passage heads north or opens into a small chamber to the south.

The Avatar's Chamber

The ceiling of this room towers upwards, stretching perhaps forty feet above. The crystal itself has not been carved from the rock to produce faceted surfaces, but somehow has been smoothed into perfect curves. A sensation of awesome power fills the room, and none of the ants ever seem to visit here.

Hidden Beneath the Earth

This is a small earthen chamber which doesn't seem to have been made by the ants. It is pleasantly warm, and the warmth seems to radiate into the surroundings, particularly upwards.
