Entrance to the Elven Court

You stand on the edge of the Elven Court. Small shrubs and trees dot the landscape here. Birds and small animals flit about the air and ground. The grass is green and fresh with a light sprinkling of dew. To the east the forest thickens quite a bit to the north and to the east.

Thickening Elven Court

The tree cover is quite dense here. Animal sounds originate from all around. The trees themselves seem to be alive and watching you. The cover is lighter to the west. A small path leads off to the south.

Trail in the Elven Court

The trees surround you and bear down hard as you strain to see sunlight. The sounds of animals have been replaced by the sounds of leaves blowing in some distant breeze. The trail seems to lighten to the north, and grows darker to the south.

Small Campsite

You enter a small clearing and see a small campfire ring. The sun breaks through the canopy here throwing dancing shadows on the ground and trunks alike. Sitting logs and rocks surround the campfire. This looks like a safe place to rest those tired bones.

Elven Court

Upon reaching this comfortably secluded spot, one can take notice of the serenity and quiet solitude. Unseen birds chirp merrily amongst leafy boughs, and small animals peer at you from the dense underbrush. You breathe in the clean air, thankful for the soft eastern breeze.

Knights of Myth Drannor Outpost

A small wood building is here almost completely hidden by the underbrush and trees. The wooden door has a strange emblem that you recognize as the seal of the Knights of Myth Drannor. These great adventurers protect the land from the evils of the ruined city off to the south. This must be one of their check points.

Elven Court

The forest thickens here making walking difficult at best. Roots catch your feet and branches snag your clothing and equipment along this dark path. Then suddenly you hear a scream from the east, followed by the sound of ripping flesh and the snapping of bone.

Dark Clearing

Chills of uneasiness wash over you as you enter this chilly clearing. In the shadows of a huge willow tree, you behold a nightmarish sight. Two great horned demons of the purest black feast hungrily on a freshly-slain elf. At once, both turn their hate-filled red eyes on you, their mouths fill with dripping flesh. Your stomach turns.

Nearing the city of Myth Drannor

The forest thins out here to the south. You spy a road to the south. A large tree is laying over the path here. It seems it was ripped out of the ground by something very large and apparently very strong. You can sense the faint smell of smoke wafting in from the south.

Supply Building

You stand within a small supply shack. Equipment and food stuffs line the walls and floor. The interior is clean and tidy and the air is dry and cool. Most of the items here seem normal enough except for the bright key laying on top of a water barrel. The only exit is to the north.

Ancient Road

The road you stand on is filled with scattered pieces of rock and debris. You are able to navigate it without too much trouble, though you must watch your footing. To the north you see the road end at a dark grove. To the south, you see more ruins.

Ancient Road

The road here is in ruins. The way is blocked by numerous large pieces of rubble and debris forcing you to slow your pace. To the north you can see the road continue. To the south, you see the remnants of structures that appear to have been a great city.

Outside North Gate of Myth Drannor

Looming iron gates, once majestic and pristine, now stand layered by rust. Despite their ancient appearance, they still remain strong and steadfast. To the south of the gates lies the crumbled elven civilization. Dark forms seem to move within the shadows of buildings just within.

Inside North Gate of Myth Drannor

As you pass into the city's confines, a ghostly smoke wafts about you, mixing with the hazy fog in the distance. Ancient stonework, once held to be impervious to weather and time, now crumbles all around, covered in moss and dark green mold. Ravens caw, perched atop a ruined temple's steeple, somehow laughing at you, your arrival decades too late to have seen the city while it thrived.

Northern Square of Myth Drannor

You stand in the Northern Square of the once great city of Myth Drannor. This wonderful city was once the center for trade in the Dalelands now it is in ruins. You spy dark shapes moving in and out of the crumbling buildings that seem to intently watch your progress through the city. Gold avenue runs south towards the Market Square. Silver street runs east and west here between two very tall towers.

Gold Avenue

Yes, the street here IS paved in gold! You try to chip some away but the chips remove themselves from you and reattach themselves to the street! You assume the elves foresaw your greed and took measures to prevent this. This is the only street in Myth Drannor that is unaffected by the ravages of the demons and time. The street continues south.

Gold Avenue

Gold Avenue runs north towards the Northern Square and south towards The Market Square. City Hall (what's left of it) lies to the east. You see an eagle overhead searching for prey. A large cart lies overturned, its contents spilled all over the street.

Gold Avenue

You stand on the southern end of Gold Avenue. There is a building here to the west. Smoke and flames can be seen coming from within. Two Dark shapes can also be seen inside. One of them motions you closer. The Market Square can be seen to the south.

The Great Market Square of Myth Drannor

This was once the center of trade for all the Dalelands. Now it is a mere shadow of its former self. Shops and stalls sit plundered and broken, surrounding the edges of the square. A large broken fountain, now dry, sits at a strange angle in the center of the square. The Great Temple of Celestian rises to the south. Its great marble gates seem to have been opened recently.

Silver Street

The road glimmers with the silvery hue of the stonework. All to your right and left, more of the once glorious stone dwellings now seem sad and lifeless, now only the homes of chittering rats, roosting birds and the rushing winds. Your footsteps echo faintly...

Silver Street

As your eyes continue to wander about the shell of a once beautiful city, your eyes come to rest on the intricately engraved walkway where you tread. Even the street shows signs of time's passage, cobblestones overturned and treacherous for horses' hooves and wagon wheels.

Silver Street

An overhead sign from an abandoned inn swings on squeaky hinges in the smoke-scented air. The road continues further east and back west to the northern square. Squinting your eyes, looking east, you see naught but more sad ruin and rubble strewn across the road.

Silver Street

Stepping over massive slabs of fallen stonework, you see the road splits south and on to a spired tower to the east. The weeds grow rampantly here, having sprouted in numerous places between the silvery cobblestones.

Greenleaf Road

The street here is lined with overgrown hedges and shrubbery. Ageless and ancient oak trees line either side of the road and in some places have grown into the stone dwellings, toppling them slowly. Massive tree roots have broken up the street in places and squirrels chatter in the treetops.

Greenleaf Road

Although the structures along the road are ramshackle and in disrepair, the abundant verdure and greenery add a faint sense of hope to this lane. The smoke seems to not blow through this area and nature seems to be reclaiming it slowly.

Greenleaf Road

The towering trees stretch their strong boughs out over the street here, silent unmoving guardians for those still about to traverse the empty stretch. Small homes of rock on either side of the road look crushed and charred by fires long since burned.

Celestian Avenue

To the north you see the abundant greenery of Greenleaf road, and to the west you gaze upon what used to be a beautiful lane, where wealthy families lived, aspiring merchants made their businesses, and spoiled children played. The fountain statues in the yards of homes are yellowed now and their limbs have fallen off. A small flock of doves alight at your approach.

Celestian Avenue

To the west you see the great market square, expansive and empty. A broken-down cart lies just off the avenue's side, rats slinking and watching from amongst the splintered wood. The road here, paid for by the affluent, is in good repair. You spy a sidewalk cafe with empty chairs and broken tables across the way.

Crystal Drive

The stones of this road are solid crystal, once glossy and clear but now broken and cracked. A small shop stands to the east, its door swinging on bent hinges. Across the drive a blasted and burned building crumbles in on itself, totally unserviceable. Crystal Drive runs north to Silver Street and continues south.

Crystal Drive

You wonder how pretty this road must have been in Myth Drannor's prime. A small elven home lies to the east, its door long gone. Your nostrils catch the smell of rotting flesh coming from somewhere to the south. Crystal Drive runs north and south.

Crystal Drive

The smell of rotting flesh is very strong here. A large deer's corpse lies rotting here covered in flies. You examine the corpse and see that it must have been eaten alive. The demons here must have had great sport with this helpless animal who made the mistake of wandering into the city. A formerly popular tavern lies to the west, a small sign covered in scratches hanging above its missing swinging doors. Crystal Drive runs north, and south to Celestian Avenue.

Celestian Avenue

Looted long ago, establishments of fine wares, such as carpets, jewelry, silks, spices, and other goods of quality are to be found. Manicured lawns now overgrown surround the buildings. Wildflowers now cover the landscape, even growing up through the cracks in the broken walkway.

Celestian Avenue

You find your feet upon a once grand and regal lane. Once magnificent homes of wealth line either side of the row, now just like every other structure, falling apart and victim to the effects of time. Finely sculpted statues of worship, devoted to Celestian the elven god, line the walks. The avenue runs east toward the market square, and Crystal Drive leads north.

Base of North East Tower

Upon entering this structure, you are awed by the complexity of its design. The walls and the stairs almost seem to be cut from a single stone yet, seem full of stark contrasts. The simple design seems to move you to the center of the room, inviting you to climb the stairs.

Ruined Stairs

The steps here are littered with debris. Burned out torches and rusted metal seems to fill every other step. From the corner of your eye, you note the flutter of small wings just beyond your view. The stairs rise above in a symmetrical spiral and descend back into the darkness below.

Closer to the Top

As you near the top of the tower, sunlight breaks in and seems to push the shadows back down below you. The light allows you to see the many cracks in the walls and stairs. You feel a bit uneasy at this. Holes and cracks of various sizes allow you to see something of the land below, but not enough to identify any of it. Above you, you see the open top of the tower, below the stairs descend in a dizzying spiral into the shadows.

Top of the North East Tower

From your vantage point here, you can see most of the ruins that comprise what was once this great city. Even in the ruins you note traces of elven craftsmanship in the architecture. Looking east, you see a great wooded region. Northward are more trees, alive with the movement of animals. Southward great ruined buildings stand with shadows moving between them. The stairs spiral back down into the tower.

Base of North West Tower

Entering the tower, you see it is of simple design yet built in the graceful fluid style of the elven architects. Smooth walls of polished stone surround you as you place your foot onto the first step. The stairs continue in a tight spiral. An owl flutters past you, disturbed from its torch sconce nest.

Crumbling Stairs

Broken spears lie on the steps as you climb. Shattered lanterns rust on the dusty landing onto which you step. Looking ahead you see the stair-way winds ever upward and back down into obscurity. You hear the faint squeaking of bats, somewhere out of sight.

Closer to the Top

Close to the top of the tower, the stairwell grows brighter as sunlight beams into the dismal pinnacle. Your footsteps echo hollowly on the chipped stone steps as you ascend. You notice the arrow slits in the tower's walls where elven archers must've once guarded and defended the tower from any threat on the forest floor below.

Top of the North West Tower

Above the city's austere facade, a beautiful countryside stretches out westward, Daleville faintly visible far away near the horizon. Northward lies the deep forest, rich with the sound of echoing bird song. Turning about to look south you see an impressive temple rising from the treetops, and eastward more dense woodland. The stairs spiral back down into the tower.

Bank of Myth Drannor

This was once the bank of Myth Drannor. The moneykeeper's table has long since crumbled and rotted away. The vault has been open and plundered years ago. The room is very quiet. Almost too quiet.

City Hall

This is where the elves came to settle disputes and claims with the city. Large pink marble benches line the walls. A small dais where elves would make their cases in standard elven fashion raises out of the floor in the middle of the room. There is a small sign on the wall.

Portal

You enter into this small building and smoke burns your eyes and nostrils making you cough and your eyes tear. A large black portal stands here to the Abyss. Demons leap out of the portal and scream at you. Suddenly a HUGE black hand reaches out of the portal, pushes past the demons and grabs you! You feel your ribs crack and your spine snap. Blood throbs in your ears, and just as darkness over envelops you forever you wonder: I wonder where my mother is...

And then.... Death

Library

You enter a small building that at one time must have been a library. Books have fallen off their shelf and lay burned and crumbling on the ground. The librarian is still here, now evil and twisted. She glares at you with red glowing eyes and floats closer.

Ruined Stables

Even with the passing of the years, you can still smell the faint scent of horse manure and rotting oats. Filthy brushes still hang on wall hooks and a tangle of old harnesses, reins, and lead ropes lie in the corner. Kicking aside some old hay, you discover the bones of a horse, blinders still fastened about its bleached out skull.

Blasted Grocer

A blackened stone oven, where bread was once made, now houses a small family of possums. The grocer's wooden counter has long since rotted into mulch and broken bowls and spoons litter the burnt stone floor.

Old Shop

You stand within an empty shop. Once citizens of Myth Drannor came here to purchase the finest silk and jewelry in all the Dalelands. Now the cabinets and cases are broken and mostly empty. The skeletons of several elves lay here in the dust. Rusted armor and rotting cloth hang off their unmoving bones.

Crumbling Tavern

This was once a popular tavern/cafe in Myth Drannor. The finest wines and light ales were served here at one time. Now tables and chairs lie smashed and broken about the main room. The bar is in pretty good shape, its hardwood standing the test of time. More skeletons litter the floor here. The only apparent exit is to the east.

Ruined Home

You look about the main living area of a home now not fit for living. A cooking kettle lies on its side before a caved-in fireplace, and the wood on the table, chairs and mantle are rotted into uselessness. Scraps from a little girl's doll lie atop broken stones, fluttering in the smoky air.

Inn of the Silver Dragon

As you stand in the doorway to this structure you are overwhelmed by foul odors. This was obviously an establishment with its share of fine spirits, now long since soured. The place is knee deep in rubble, causing you to step carefully from one pile to the next to survey the area. Above the shattered bar hang the remnants of a shattered sculpture of an ancient wyrm. As you stand looking at it, you glance down and see bits of the rubble at you feet seem to shift a bit. Or do you?

Hallway

The windows are all boarded up here making the walking difficult around debris and corpses. A large Demon stands here blocking your path. He snarls at you and brandishes a large rod. Behind him you see a small alcove in the darkness.

Monk's Alcove

This must have been where the elven monks prepared themselves for ceremony and such. Closets here are ripped open and destroyed. Decaying robes and other monk items lay here. The hallway east leads back to the rest of the temple and a small archway leads to some type of shrine to the south.

Hallway

This passageway appears to have been well lit by both the sun and the stars. Now however, the portals have been covered over and the bright designs on the wall shattered and eradicated. You climb over a large pile of debris only to find a demon feasting on a bit of rotting flesh. He sees you and appears much hungrier.

Acolyte's alcove

The tattered remnants of priestly garb and broken symbols of faith lead you to believe that this area is where the priests prepared themselves before entering the temple or seeing visitors. The robes have been torn from their places and the shreds thrown around the place in a frenzy. Sitting among the scraps are the broken remains of several holy symbols.

East Wing

You move into the waiting area for the shrine. This appears to be where priests would wait to attend the Shrine of the Star. The only thing waiting here, among the ruins now is a reptilian-looking demon. From the looks of it he's been waiting here for you.

Back of the Aisle

As you move further into the structure, you see the remains of several of the last patrons here. Their bodies have been blasted and hacked by something inhuman. From the shadows beneath the pews, you see several pairs eyes, watching you and hear claws crunching bones.

Center of the Aisle

As you move past the rotting pews and elven corpses you see movement behind several benches. Several reptilian creatures are moving about here, stripping the last bits of flesh from the rotting remains. They look at you hungrily, and move towards you.

Nearing the Altar

As you move closer to the altar, there is less and less light to see by. It's as if the very room, is conspiring against your exploration. The demons you saw glimpses of before, move about here in the open, almost daring you to press further.

Rows of Pews

As you step carefully off the central aisle, you notice that the debris here has been burned more badly than those closer to the entrance. You are also made more uncomfortable by the horrid smell and strange noises coming from near a large pile of corpses. You soon see that the noises are not coming from the corpses at all.

Rows of Pews

The pews here have been shattered by force and the bodies show more signs of decay and the cause is quite obvious. From one corpse to another dark eyes move, examining you. They look hungry and begin to move in your direction.

The Altar of Celestian

This is the Altar of Celestian, once beautiful and bright, it is now defiled beyond all recognition. Elven skulls sit in rows here around the Altar, hair still attached, empty sockets staring at you. Just as you think it would be a good idea to leave, a huge dark shape materializes from the shadows. He grins at you darkly and begins to walk towards you.

Rows of Pews

You stand just off the central aisle, midway between the door and where it appears an altar should be. You are surrounded by bits of broken wood that, fully assembled would probably make comfortable pews. They are not, however, fully assembled. They lie as piles of shattered timber at your feet. Among them, small eyes dart, and look you over.

Rows of Pews

As you move further from the central aisle, you move closer to the shadows that fill the corners of the temple. You climb over piles of debris in an attempt to gain footing, and manage to step over several dried up corpses that lie among the splintered remains of the pews here. As you do, you see something moving behind one of the pews.

Rows of Pews

From behind the pews, you are able to see numerous shapes moving about, from one corpse to the next. As you move from the central aisle, you notice that the movement has stopped its random pattern and the dark shapes are approaching you...

Rows of Pews

As you step from the center of the room, you stand among piles of rotten wood and rotting corpses. The bodies are mixed with debris causing you to move carefully to avoid stepping on anyone. Among the bodies, you see dark shapes moving about, and you hear the sounds of breathing.

Monk's Shrine

This is a private shrine to Celestian for the monks of the temple. Like the rest of this place, it is severely desecrated. The windows are covered by skins and boards. The floor is covered in slime and mold. The only exit is to the north.

Shrine of the Star

You stand before what appears to have been a shrine for the lower levels of the priesthood. The shrine is covered with filth and looks to have been covered with trash and debris. The once clear and sharp face of the shrine is now covered in muck and grime, its true beauty hidden from view.

Secret Stairway under the Altar

This stairway must have been used by the priests of Celestian to take their dead down to be entombed below. The Stairwell is hot. Almost too hot to be this far underground. Smoke and vapors sting eyes and noses as they waft up from below. The stairs are scuffed and show signs of passage from many clawed feet.

Bottom of the Stairs

The air down here is a bit clearer. Most of the smoke and fumes line the ceiling, wafting up the stairwell to the temple above. The demons and horrors must originate from somewhere down here. To the south you see the entrance to the catacombs.

Entrance to the Catacombs

The entrance to the Catacombs is mostly bare. This is where the Elven priests prepared the dead for their final rest. Swabs of cloth cling to smashed racks long since dried and useless. Several pots sit here, some are cracked and broken, others are still full of the embalming fluid used to prepare the cadavers. To the north you see a set of stairs. South leads deeper into the Catacombs.

The Catacombs

The Catacombs are a warren of caves and passages carved out of black stone. It seems that most of the tombs and sconces have been looted for their contents. The creatures here must fancy the taste of dried and rotten elven flesh. There are exits north, south, east and west from this point. The floor seems to actually give off smoke here. Perhaps that is just an illusion of the dark though.

Dark Hole

As you enter this secret shaft your eyes sting from the fumes and soot in the air. There is an intense heat coming from below. The walls are covered in claw marks from creatures climbing up and down this terrible place.

The Rift

This is where all the demons are coming from. There is a large rift in the south wall leading into the Abyss. Demons pour out of this rift, screaming and clawing at the air. Heat and fumes pour out making anyone cough and choke.

Secret Chamber

Some elven families must have used this room for storing emergency funds. There is a small chest here in the center of the room. Large cobwebs hang from the ceiling. Spiders begin to drop on your head!

The Catacombs

Demons have made this antechamber into some sort of rationing head quarters. Severed arms, legs, heads and elf torsos sit in separate piles. A small tunnel leads south and there appears to be some sort of chamber up ahead to the west.

The Catacombs

This was once a large resting area for those who wished to visit their passed away elven friends or family. Large marble benches line the walls and a small wash basin, now smashed, sits against the south rock face. There is a small tunnel branching off to the north and an archway to the west.

The Catacombs

You step into a small side tunnel of the Catacombs. The floor shows signs that something has been dragged south of here. The smoke and fumes are much thinner here. Making it almost possible to breathe normally.

The Catacombs

Dried elven corpses are stacked in a heap here. Unholy symbols have been carved into their chests and foreheads. The demons must have put up this grisly wall to keep something in. The tunnel squeezes past the heap and continues south, and back to the main chambers to the north.

The Catacombs

The tunnel is very dark here as it runs on north and south. Slime and mold stick to the walls, making them look almost alive. There is a corpse of a demon here, but it is missing wounds or any noticeable cause of death. It appears to have died of fright. You wonder what could possibly scare a demon.

The Catacombs

As you enter this place, the first thing you notice is that it seems remarkably clean, for a catacomb. The floor is visible and the walls appear to have survived relatively unscathed. The walls however have been opened and cleared out by someone or something. You shiver when you see what little is left of the corpses. The tunnel bends here, from the north to the east.

The Catacombs

The tunnel here is full of smoke. It seems to rise from the floor, drift down from the ceiling and pour from the walls. If you didn't know any better, you'd swear that the whole place was on fire. It is not burning, as far as you can tell. It is however, very warm. To the east an old doorway carved with elven leaves stands untouched, and the tunnel runs back west.

Tomb of Shalafareen

This tomb seems untouched by demons. A large pedestal sits on the floor here. On this lies the remains of the great elven king, Shalafareen. The floor is covered in dried leaves and branches in the elven burial custom. Suddenly the corpse moves! This must be why nothing has dared enter this tomb. It appears that Shalafareen is NOT at peace.

The Catacombs

This narrow tunnel could hardly be called a catacomb. It looks more like a small off-shoot of a larger tunnel. The walls are painfully close together forcing you to slow your pace going through them. The air here is very humid, as if something has been burned here and left to rot. The off-shoot ends in a dead end where something hungry has ransacked several tombs and thrown the corpses all around the place, and recently. The only way back is south.

The Catacombs

The catacombs here seem more like rough hewn tunnels, the walls are fairly well groomed, except for the heavy build-up of ash and scorched earth. The floor is piled high with splintered timber and an occasional bone shard. You struggle to cross the room, but manage to avoid losing your balance.

The Catacombs

You enter a small side tunnel, leading off the main catacombs. This chamber is dominated by a large pile of rubble and crushed timber in the corner. Sitting atop this pile is a very large, ugly demon. He is picking his teeth with the leg bone of an elf, and appears quite enthralled with it.

The Catacombs

You enter a large chamber, with tunnels leading out in all directions. You also note large gouges cut into the walls and floor, indicating the passage of something rather large recently. The air is musty and stale here, making you even more uncomfortable.

The Catacombs

The tunnel here seems to have been scorched by fire recently. You guess this by the presence of a thick layer of ash on the floor and the walls, and by an almost tangible haze filling the area. You strain to see tracks on the floor, but see only scratchings and faint outlines. You are unable to see any markings on the walls at all.

The Catacombs

The smoke in the air seems to clear a bit, allowing you to breathe more easily. Your rest is momentary, though. Across the tunnel, you see a pair of reptilian-looking demons pulling apart an elven corpse. They don't seem to notice you, yet.

The Catacombs

The smoky tunnel from the west opens into a chamber that appears to have been a burial vault at one time. The bodies here, though well preserved, have been clawed and carved as much as the rest. You are able to see through the haze to the other side of the chamber. There you see, partly hidden by the haze, several large demons resting.

The Catacombs

The catacombs here are older and seem to have been more vigorously looted. The floor is littered with shriveled corpses of elves long since dead. Their bodies have been strewn about and ripped to pieces. Sitting in the middle of all this are several demons who look like they'd be happy to show you how it was done.

The Catacombs

You struggle to take a clean breath here, as the air is completely full of smoke and ash. It obscures your sight, and you have to feel your way along the walls. Through the haze you can just make out tunnels leading north, south and west.

The Catacombs

You've entered a room that smells like death, literally. There are several corpses in varying states of decay littering the floor here. The haze in the air carries the putrid stench out in all directions. Among the bodies, you see a small demon, clawing what's left of his lunch. A blank wall at the east end, scorched by intense heat, closes the room off. The tunnels lead north and west.

The Catacombs

This tunnel has led you to a dead end of sorts. Before you lies an empty chamber that looks largely undisturbed by the passage of time. The only thing that shatters this illusion is the large demon clawing at the back wall. He sees you and charges in your direction!

The Catacombs

The tunnel leads you into a small cave, with openings all around you. You smell smoke in the air but can't tell which tunnel it's coming from. You are able to see cryptic writing on the wall that looks vaguely elven, but has been clawed away enough to make it unreadable. The air is dank and heavy, polluted by the burning of something you recognize as flesh. In the middle of the cave several small demons fight over a small pile of bones.

The Catacombs

The tunnel ends in a burial chamber. You see in the walls around you burial marks indicating that long ago, elves were buried here. All that remains of those unfortunate souls has been scattered around the place by the large demon who sits, staring at you through the haze. The only way out is back north.

Crack in the Wall

This is a very narrow crack in the wall. It bends and widens out to the north. The walls are solid granite, unlike the black stone of the Catacombs. The smell of fumes and corpses here is replaced by the grainy scent of something much older.

The Lair of Rauglothgor

The crack to the south opens up into a huge cavern here. Gold and treasures lie all over the floor of this ancient cave. A huge dragon skeleton rests on its hoard. It must have died of old age, trapped in this now sealed off cavern. Suddenly the dragon doesn't seem quite so dead.

Elven Court

The forest is very thick off the beaten path. Large trees shadow the floor blocking out the sun. A small Tower once stood here. Now it is crumbling and in ruins. The forest gets thicker yet to the east and thins out to the west.

Elven Court

The trees are so close together here it makes it difficult to see more than a few feet. Animals and birds escape into the underbrush and run up trees as you peer around. A small arrow is stuck in a tree trunk here. Its fletchings have been pulled off and its shaft is cracked. The forest thins out to the west and darkens to the east.

Elven Court

Darkness over makes it difficult to see. Even your light source seems to dim as you enter this dark clearing. The forest is strangely quiet here. One can still sense the animals but they seem to be waiting for something to happen or are too afraid to make a sound. A small path leads off to the south and the forest seems a bit brighter to the east. To the west the trees seem almost too thick to pass, but not impossible.

Elven Court

The forest brightens quite a bit here. A large tree has been ripped out of the ground here by something very huge. There is no sign of what happened to it except for a large swath of broken branches and shrubs leading off the east.

Elven Court

The forest seems strangely quiet here. The birds have stopped their singing and the animals watch you nervously from the trees and from under bushes. Huge prints have been pressed into the forest floor here. They measure several feet across and twice again as long. A small path continues to the south and the trees and shrubs have been torn out of the ground making a path to the west.

Elven Court

You walk off the beaten path in the forest. The underbrush is not too thick here. And the gnarled roots seem to be mostly under the earth. The forest deepens to the west and thins out back onto the path to the east.

Elven Court

It's quite dark here. The trees have blocked out most of the sunlight. Roots and brambles catch your feet and snag armor and equipment as you push your way through this tight spot. There is a clearing to the east and the forest thins out a bit to the west.

Ancient Battle in the Elven Court

This is a large grassy clearing. Rusted armor and swords lie about. Some elven skeletons slowly crumble into dust with the passage of time. This must have been the site of a large battle. The victors cannot be discerned from what you see here. What the elves were fighting is anyone's guess. It seems this may have been either a scout party or elves that sacrificed their lives so others could escape.

Elven Court

The trees seem quite old here. This forest was once the home of the elves. Long ago they left for Evermeet, abandoning their once great city to the wilds and demons that now inhabit the city's confines. The path runs east and west here.

Clearing

The path opens up into a small clearing here. The grass is green and soft and there are small shrubs pushing up along the edges. A path leads off to the north between two large trees. To the south you see another larger clearing. There seems to be movement to the west.

Elven Court

There is a large elm in the center of this clearing. A swarm of bees have made this place their home. A smaller clearing lies to the north and the trail continues off to the west.

Wine Cellar

Racks of rotted wood line the walls of this low cellar, most of the bottles they held smashed long ago and their wine soaked into the dirt floor. A few dusty casks still sit in the corner, their elven seals unbroken. A trapdoor in the ceiling leads up into the tavern, and a narrow tunnel, its walls shored with old timber, runs off to the east beneath the streets.

Beneath the Library

The tunnel from the west ends in a cramped cellar stacked with crates of moldering books, scrolls and ledgers the librarians must have hidden away from the fires above. Water has ruined most of them. A ladder leads up to a trapdoor in the ceiling, and the tunnel runs back west toward the tavern's cellar.

Grand Entrance

Heat blasts you in the face, singeing hair and making you sweat as you enter the Temple. This was once a wonderful church dedicated to the Elven God of Stars. Now it is a terrible place to behold. Demons seem to have made this place their home. They fly and run about, fighting each other and feasting on dried elf corpses that hang from the vaulted ceiling. There are two hallways branching off east and west. To the south you see an aisle leading to some kind of altar between several rows of blasted pews.
