Sea of Fallen Stars and Westgate (Armande)

155 rooms · levels 35–50

Room of the Master

This small room is spartan. A hard cot and a chest of drawers holding a few meager possessions are all it holds, and everything is kept extremely tidy. A single narrow window lets in the light during the day. The door to the north opens onto the corridor.

Corridor in the Guild

This short corridor on the upper floor of the guild has a door on three sides: the master assassin's room to the south, the guildmaster's chamber to the west, and to the east a door bearing a strange symbol. The symbol glows faintly, and the door is plainly barred by more than a lock. A narrow stair winds down into the guild hall.

Guildmaster's Chamber

The guildmaster of the Assassins lives in this chamber. A large desk and a bed fill the room, the desk buried under papers and manuscripts, and the walls are tastefully decorated. Much of the guild's work is planned from here. The door is to the east.

Treasury of the Guild

This is the treasury of the guild. Gems and antiques of every kind are usually stored here, a large display case shows off fine weaponry, and coins lie strewn about as if nobody bothered to count them. The only way out is the barred door to the west.

The Guild Hall

This is where the Assassins' Guild conducts its business. There is no unauthorized killing in and around Westgate, and those who harm its citizens had best be ready to pay. A large round wooden table stands in the middle of the room, its top scarred with dents from the many daggers, dirks and stilettos that have been thrust into it. A small staircase winds upward, and the courtyard is back to the west.

Outside a Walled Building

The sandy road ends here before a small wooden fort to the east. A fortified wall of sharpened logs surrounds it, a pair of iron gates bars the way in, and from the top of the wall a pair of eyes watches everyone on the road. The crossroads below Westgate lie to the north; the road runs south out of the woods toward the cart roads of Sembia.

Entrance to the Guild

This walled courtyard leads to the inner hall of the Assassins' Guild of Westgate. Civilized people do not come here. Nameless assassins stalk in and out through the iron gates to the west, and the great hall of the guild lies to the east.

The Edge of the Ocean

The western edge of the Sea of Fallen Stars is here, connecting with the Town of Westgate. There are huge rocks and large boulders scattered along the rocky coast. The ocean collides with the rocky coast creating large puffs of ocean spray. The Town of Westgate is to the west through a small forest.

The Road of Westgate

Sandy roads cross here below the walls of Westgate. The town gate lies to the north; a rutted cart road heads east into the forest toward the sea, a sandy trail runs west along the wall, and the road continues south to a small walled fort.

The Entrance to Westgate

The prosperous town of Westgate lies to the north, through a gate in its stone wall. Westgate is known for its diamond mines and its jewelry trade, and its citizens are rather wealthy; the wall can be held by the standing army within, and it is said that only the Assassins' Guild has the right to harm a citizen of this town. The crossroads are back to the south.

Main Plaza

This is the center of activity for the town of Westgate. Artisans practice their crafts, and entertainers play stringed instruments. To the north is the Mining guild, whereas to the east is the Gemcutters guild. The plaza continues west, and the exit is south.

Diamond Miners Guild

This is the guild of diamond miners. The guild is having problems because something is killing their members in the mines. Consequently the price they have to pay their members has risen dramatically. They have also been forced to take on non-guild members to help with the mining. A sign on the wall offers 700 gold per day for those willing to risk mining. The room here is unadorned other than the sign and a counter. The exit to the plaza is to the south.

Gemcutters Guild

The people of Westgate are renowned in their ability to cut Gemstones. They rival the dwarves in this respect. The lapidaries here carefully cut and polish stones from the mine. Stone prices have risen dramatically. Some very unusual objects can be sold here.

Glittering Plaza

The road here is covered with small rounded stones finer than gravel. Along the sides one can see ornately designed buildings that make up the architecture here. Scholars, painters, and merchants seem to be thriving here. This city appears to be crime free and it is said that even common citizens will rush to the aid of one of their fellows.

The Plaza

The plaza continues here. In this part of town many artists ply their trade. Consequently it abounds with statues and fountains. The walls of some buildings have enormous frescos on their walls. To the north is the armory of the town, and the Mayor's mansion lies to the south. The plaza continues west and east.

The Armory of Toltok

This is the armory of Toltok. He, along with his eastern friend En, ply their trade to make the finest weapons and armor in the realms. En and Toltok sell some items in this shop. Many of their items can be found on shelves or behind a cabinet. A large sign is here posted to the cabinet. The Plaza is south.

The Plaza

The plaza continues here to the west. Even the poor section of town looks nice here. A large winding road heads north to a very large circular building. To the south is the home of a poor miner and the guards place is to the west.

Guards Barracks

The barracks of the town guard are here. Although these are the official barracks, it is well known that every citizen of Westgate is trained in combat, which makes the walled town very hard to take. The guards are the elite who keep discipline in the streets. The captain's room is to the west, and the plaza is to the east.

Guard Captains Room

This is the room of the captain of the guards. It is neat and tidy. It is a good example of what prosperity can do. Several heads of large creatures are along the walls. A desk is here as well as several chairs.

Modest Home

This is the modest home of a small family. A little table with three chairs stands by the hearth, where something good is cooking, and the house is decorated just as one would expect. The people here seem happy and content. The plaza is back to the north.

The Arbory

The great path heads upward to a circular building. Large statues line the sides of the path each has the bearing of a unique great warrior. The grass around the Statues is green and full. A path south heads back to the plaza.

The Great Coliseum

The great coliseum of Westgate stands here, a mighty circular arena ringed with white pillars. A large banner showing the current champion hangs above the entrance to the north. It is said that if a champion can win twenty fights in a row, Malev will raise a statue in their honor. The statue-lined path leads back south.

The Coliseum

This is the floor of the coliseum. Above, a great crowd fills the seats, and the fans scream as you enter. The ground is plain dirt, stained with patches of dark blood. Mercy is often shown here, but it is not required. The iron gate to the south swings shut behind you.

The Pasture

Although the mayor's estate is south he allows many people to visit his gardens and courtyards. They are open to the public. This particular practice is what keeps him getting reelected. The grasses here are green and lush. The busy plaza is to the north, and the gardens of Malev continue to the south.

The Gardens

A large fountain dominates the gardens. Topiary kept in excellent condition sprawls across the estate, the bushes carved into many pleasing animal shapes. A green hill rises to the west, Malev's mansion stands to the south, and the pasture is back to the north.

The Hill with a Single Tree

This large green hill overlooks the estate of Malev. The grass is soft, and on top of the hill grows a single great tree with an inscription carved at its base. Villagers come here often, for it is held to be good luck to make love beneath its branches. The gardens are to the east.

Malev's Study and Bedroom

This room doubles as Malev's study, bedroom, and library. As such there are large bookcases filled with tomes of forgotten lore. Malev, although a paladin, has also been studying magic recently as a large spellbook lies on a table here. A staircase winds down.

The Mansion

This is the mansion of Malev, the mayor. A large window looks out over the town wall to the forest and the far glint of the sea. The home is tastefully furnished with divans, paintings and other art. In the center of the room stands a large suit of armor from Malev's adventuring days, and the head of a mighty dragon hangs on the wall. A staircase leads up, and the gardens are to the north.

The Sea of Fallen Stars

The sea stretches out in every direction here. The winds come violently and drive the water into great white-capped swells, even in the gentlest breeze. The waters are clear and very dangerous: swimming would be a bad idea, for powerful currents can drag a swimmer anywhere, even down. To the north, wooden docks reach out from a large island.

Sea of Fallen Stars

Sea of Fallen Stars. The name is appropriate. The waters here are rough. Large swells of cold water forming whitecaps form the majority of the sea. The Sea is a treasurehouse of all kinds of sea creatures. Islands dot the waters in many directions.

The Forest Near Westgate

This path heads straight through the great forest. The path is well traveled and contains many ruts from the carts which drive by. The trees loom huge overhead. To the west a path leads to Westgate. To the east is more forest.

A Choice to be Made

A well traveled road breaks off here. To the north a large hill is visible with a large residence perched on top. To the east a cart path heads deeper into the forest, and to the west the road heads to Westgate. The road is quite dirty, and the large ruts make the road difficult to travel when wet.

Trail Through Some Spooky Woods

A small rutted trail runs through dark, spooky woods. To the east the trees thin toward the sound of surf, and to the west the trail leads back toward Westgate. A track turns north here to the mouth of the diamond mine, where something is plainly going on.

Diamond Mine Shaft

This is a long shaft tunneled mostly down toward the bottom. A large system of ropes and gears help lift ore up to the surface to be sorted. A large metal ladder allows travel up and down. The mine floor is below and above is the entrance.

Diamond Mine Tunnel

The main tunnel of the diamond mine is here. Wooden support beams support the ceiling from any sort of collapse or cave in. The walls are wet here as some water seeps in from somewhere. The passage slopes downward to the east. A large ladder is here leading upward, and a set of trays and gears head rotate upward.

Mine Entrance

This is the entrance to the diamond mine of Westgate. Diamonds are one of the valued trade goods from this city. The mine has been only open somewhat as only brave miners go down. There is a rumor that a terrifying beast is down there killing miners. Of course the dead bodies of miners lends a lot of credence to this rumor.

Diamond Tunnels

The diamond mine tunnels go here burrowing down to the east. The walls are scored and rough. Large wooden beams hold up the ceiling and posts hold the beams in place. The corridor continues in much the same way as it had before. Dripping water can be heard nearby.

Diamond Corridor

This is the main corridor of the mine. Many diamonds were mined here, but they have long since moved to deeper spots. The ceiling is shored up here with the same wooden timbers spaced evenly apart. The corridor extends in both directions but slopes down to the south.

Cracked and Broken Corridor

Some of the beams in this part of the corridor have splintered and broken. It doesn't appear as if the ceiling collapsed them, rather it appears that they broke and fell down. The ceiling doesn't seem like it's going to collapse however. The passage extends to the north and to the east. The walls are somewhat slimy.

Diamond Mined Out Corridors

A large hole leads down further into the mine here. The walls are rough and dry. It is a little bit warmer here than at the surface. The mine passage heads west. The hole contains that same contraption that enables ore to be carted to the surface.

Diamond Caverns

These caverns are freshly mined. Bits of ore lies scattered about around a large set of lifts. Only the bravest miners continue to work as there have been rumors of a beast roaming the tunnels. The passage follows the diamond vein to the west

Diamond Caverns

Small stones litter the ground here, the leavings of the freshly mined tunnel, and wooden support beams tower overhead. The corridor turns north here; the way back east leads to the lifts.

The Mines

The diamond mines branch out here, and this is where most of the fresh digging has been done. Only the brave come to mine so deep, and the miners' guild has had to raise wages dramatically. Veins of diamonds show in the rock: they lack the sparkle of cut stones, but they are just as hard. Passages lead south, west and east.

Bones in the Mine

This is where the miners have been dying. Bones lie scattered on the floor beside the remains of a rotting corpse. The walls here are dry and unblemished, and an interrupted diamond vein runs through the west wall; it has been mined only slightly. The tunnel goes on east and south.

End of Mine

The tunnel ends here. A large vein of diamonds is unmined here and covering the walls. The bones of a dead miner have been picked clean by something. The passage can only be exited to the north.

Corridor of Mines

This corridor is heavily trafficked. The miners seemed to have cleared out most of the diamonds in this vein. The passage heads east and west. The sturdy wooden beams prevent cave-ins.

The T

The walls show evidence of recent mining and two large branches head north and south here. The rocky walls have been mined out mostly and there appears to be few stones. The wet stone passage is mostly dark.

Dead End

This is a dead end in the mine where the miners have stopped working. There appear to be no more diamonds in this area, the vein must have been mined out. This passage has the bones of a dead miner in it. No wonder the mine is losing business. The passage heads south.

End of Vein

This area of the mine shows the usual signs of use. Bits of stone line the bottom of the floor here. This mixed in with the occasional bone create an eerie sight. The passage ends here and one can head only north.

Secret Passage

This is a secret passage, winding through the rock to a door hidden in the eastern wall. The stony path turns north and climbs into darkness.

Secret Passage

The stone walls here are slimy to the touch and the place smells of death. The air hardly moves and feels clammy. Above, a slick chimney climbs almost straight up into the dark; the passage runs on to the south.

The Plunge in the Passage

The passage drops away here almost vertically, a slick chimney plunging deep into the rock. The walls and floor are slippery and wet, and a strange fungus grows in the cracks. The corridor back to the west leads toward the guild's dungeon.

Secret Passage

A passage extends here from the door to the west. The door blends into the wall so it is difficult to see. The stone corridor here is covered with a slimy mold and is thick with spores and from lack of air.

Trail to Westgate

A sandy trail runs along the foot of the town wall here, the sand worn hard and nearly white. The crossroads at the gate of Westgate are to the east; the trail bends south into the trees. Westgate is a mining town above all, yet it is a center of culture and art as well.

Sandy Trail

The sandy trail winds through the trees here. It is not overgrown and shows plenty of use, and the woods around it never quite close in. Off through the trees lie the shores of a large lake. The trail leads back north toward the walls of Westgate.

Ascent to the Top

The dirt path heads upward to a large house. The house is old, yet seems to be in good shape. It is many stories tall and might be mistaken for a small castle. The entrance to the house is above, a dirt path heads south to the main road.

The Mountaintop

This is the summit of a large hill. A walled building sits here like a small fortress: the Bouncing Flounder, an inn offering fine food to the citizens of Westgate. Its gates to the north stand wide open, and the food smells wonderful even from here. The path winds back down the hill.

Bouncing Flounder

Large comfortable chairs lie here at many tables. Drink and food are served by various servants. Men come in discussing the day's events. Warm smells come from the nearby kitchen. This barroom is well stocked and many many regulars frequent the establishment. Curtains hang from the walls and a mighty fish hangs over a nearby fireplace mantle.

Members Entryway

This is the guildhall for the Thieves of Westgate. A large table is here. Often the thieves gather to discuss current events and the like. Ornate chairs surround the table. Two exits head east and west while a door heads back south to the tavern.

Halls of the Guild

These are the halls of the guild. The hall here bends heading to the west and north. The wooden walls seem to have small holes cut into them. Intrigue must be high here. Voices can be heard from somewhere nearby.

Stairwell in the Wooden Halls

This is a stairwell in the wooden halls of the guild. The stairwell heads upward. A large wooden door is cut into the eastern wall. A faint giggling sound can be heard within. Smells occasionally waft in from somewhere nearby.

Hanna's Room

This room is partitioned off into several small cubicles. The sounds of grunting and groaning abound. The odor of sweat is somewhat muted due to the overpowering odor of perfume. It dominates the air here. A large wooden door is west.

Hallways

This is the hallway where the elite thieves of the guild plan and do business. The wooden halls continue to the west. A large stairwell heads down to the main part of the guild. Voices can be heard nearby.

Halls of the Guild

The main guild hall is this one. The wooden walls bear a large slogan which reads "Do unto other what they would let you do unto them!" The wooden floor boards are exceptionally noisy and squeak with the slightest touch. The hallway heads east and west.

Another Staircase

A smaller wooden staircase heads upward here. The stairs are spaced fairly wide and a long railing heads down with them to the floor here. A door to the south is somewhat imposing. Voices can be heard nearby although they sound just like whispers.

Quarters of the Second

These are the quarters for the Master Thief who is second in command here. The room is adorned with a multitude of precious diamonds and other gemstones. A climbing wall, training rings and a set of boxes help keep this thief who lives here sharp.

Entryway to the Master

A large door is here with the words, "Master" written on it. The guildmaster of the guild probably lives there. This wooden room is merely an entrance. A small staircase heads downward.

Chamber of the Master

This is the master's chamber. The guildmaster's room is impressive. An entire wall is devoted to weaponry. Hooks and cleavers and knives of all kinds are in there. A decorated chair sits here in the center of the room. On the wall a large painting of the guildmaster hangs. When he is killed it will go down to the main guildhall. A small statue sits on the desk here.

Corridor in the Halls

A large hall is here with paintings on each side. They complement the wooden walls very nicely. Each painting is a picture of a guildmaster of this place. They pick up as the years go by. A staircase heads down to a smelly room and the hall is east.

The Dungeon

The dungeon is where the guild keeps people when they want them to talk. These dungeon corridors are smelly and reek of foul smells. The stone corridors seem to exude stench and are wet and slimy to the touch. Fresher air can be found above and to the west is the keeper's quarters.

Dungeon Keeper's Chamber

This chamber is the room where the Dungeon Keeper does his work. A large iron door blocks the way south. The room contains a hard bed, and a small hammock for sleeping. A table has a pile of official looking documents upon it. The passage heads east toward the rest of the guild.

Dungeons of the Guild

This passageway spirals under the guild complex. A large light can be seen to the east. The dull stone corridor heads north and east. Occasional screams echo from the depths and something appears to be not right within these corridors.

Dungeon Corridor

This is the end of the dungeon where someone has set up shop. A large continual light ball hangs suspended over the ceiling here by a long chain. A small desk and bookcase are here which seem strange for a dungeon corridor. A large table is here with mighty straps. A large cell is to the south. Every now and again a roar emanates from it.

The Cell

This place is foul smelling as if some animal had been living here in its own filth. Excrement and filth line the walls here and only the solid door must have prevented what was in here to come out. The door to the north is solid.

Sea of Fallen Stars

This is a huge bay reaching out from the mainland near the town of Westgate. The clear blue waters extend in many directions, and great waves rise up and break into whitecaps in the high winds. The rocky shore below Westgate is to the west; the open sea lies east.

Sea of Fallen Stars

This Sea extends in many directions. The waters are clear and blue yet also rough and unswimmable. The pirate islands are nearby although not all of them contain pirates. The winds huff and blow and water occasionally rises up and splashes up high.

Lone Island

This is a tiny tiny island no more than a half mile in any direction. It is a large beach. A single coconut tree grows from the center of the island. The island does show signs that people come here occasionally. Nothing lives here on a full time basis.

Between Two Islands

Two islands are here one to the north and one to the south. The smaller one to the south shows little signs of life. The northern island is much larger, and contains a variety of vegetation. The mountain jutting out from the northern island looks somewhat volcanic. The Sea of Fallen stars is here and its clear blue waters surround.

Volcanic Isle

These are the sandy shores of a volcanic isle. A large volcano sticks out of the top here bubbling lava gently and slowly down the slope. The ground here, a bit above the sand is quite rocky, probably due to the near continuous eruption. The Sea of Fallen Stars is south.

Stone Path

A stony path climbs toward the top of the mountain here. The lava flows are well off to the side and do not come down this way. The path winds back down the mountain to the south, and the rocky way continues west.

Below the Floating Thing

This is the edge of a rocky path. A small room sized sphere floats above this part of the mountain. What it is doing there remains a mystery. Lava slowly trickles down in other directions making travel impossible due to the intense heat. There doesn't appear to be any non magical way to get up to the sphere.

The Sea

This part of the sea is calm. Small islands can be seen in many directions. The waters here are deep, clear and blue. One can travel in many directions in the tranquil sea here.

Waters of the Sea

Several islands dot the waters of this great sea and a tiny, tiny one can be seen to the east. The island is so small that perhaps when there is a storm the clear waters swallow it. In all directions is the boundless sea. The waters are not as rough here for some reason.

Oceanviews

The Sea here extends in all directions. One of the small pirate's islands is to the west. The Sea of Fallen stars extends elsewhere. The waters darken here as if a storm had recently passed through.

Sea Near the Islands

The collective islands known as the pirate isles are scattered about nearby. One to the northeast and one to the southeast. The islands appear to be small rocky outcroppings jutting from the sea floor. The waters of this sea are rough. Huge swells form in the flats, capable of knocking down boats and drowning swimmers. The sea extends in most directions.

Near an Island in the Sea

A small island is visible to the south in the seas here. Birds fly around it occasionally diving into the clear rough waters for fish. The Sea extends to the north and is visible all around. The small island may have inhabitants.

Island in the Sea

This island is mostly a barren rock, yet it does show signs of life. A small boat is here and the remains of several cooking pits appear around. A small hut is to the south. It is made of thatching and mud, and leaves.

Thatched Hut

This is a thatched hut. The sandy floor is here and a small hammock hangs between two of the posts. The place smells like yesterday's fish. It is obvious that this is the home of a solitary person who lives a simple existence. A fishing pole lies against the wall. Egress from the hut is to the north.

The Sea of Fallen Stars

A large island rises from the sea just to the north, covered with the ruins of a small seafaring community; birds wheel about it, using it to nest. Another, rounder island sits off to the southwest. The rough waters of the sea extend west and east.

Isle of View

This island's inhabitants obviously weren't protected too well by their god. The remains of a large temple are here. This may have been a courtyard at one time but now is just a jumbled pile of stones. More of the ruins are to the north, and the dark waters of the Sea extend around this tiny island.

More Ruins in the Ocean

This building is mostly intact, although signs of rain and other weather have come through the ceiling. This is the first evidence of the former inhabitance of this place. The bones are small about halfling size. A large hole is cut out of the western wall. The entrance is to the south.

Sea of Tranquility

A large coral reef extends here keeping the sea relatively calm. The waters are clear and blue. Fish swim by and go about their business among the anemone and crustaceans. It is very impressive. The Reef continues to the north and to the east lies the rest of the sea.

Octopus's Garden

This area is a small cave under the waters of the Sea of Fallen Stars. It lies below the squalls in a hideaway beneath the waves. There is a sense of joy and contentment here. The coral reef surrounds this place and it is quite beautiful. One can enter the sea above by swimming up.

Coral Reef

This is an isolated coral reef in the Sea of Fallen Stars. Many fishes swim here and enjoy the sanctuary of the reef. In the center of the reef is a large pool isolated from the rest of the reef. It can be entered. The exit to the reef is south.

Uh Oh

The bones of this place seem to rattle and stir....They begin to conglomerate. Bones connect with each other haphazardly until they are finally united by a common force. The Skeletal Giant seems to rise up out of the bones. It Speaks.

Armande. We were once goblins. We turned away from our lord and so he struck us down for our sins. We can only have peace once every last bone is eroded into dust. You will now be killed. This is as our lord wishes it....we seee...we seeeeeee...

Standing Stones

This is a set of intact huge stones set in a large circle. A stone altar is in the center of the circle. A skeleton lies collapsed upon the altar. It may have been once praying to some unforgiving god for it looks as if a hole is cut directly into its chest. The ruins continue to the east and south.

Skeletal Remains

Bones. The bones of 200 dead lie here, the smallish skeletons are cracked and broken. Their bodies left to remain under whatever cataclysm struck this island. This was probably once a great courtyard. As crumbled columns are here and broken statues as well. Whatever killed these people killed them all at the same time.

Sea of the Fallen Star

A large circular island lies to the south, sticking up from the sea like a huge round turtle shell. It appears to be sandy and has much vegetation. The seas are all around, and the dreaded Pirate Isles seem to be lacking their namesake.

The Round Island

The coast of this island is rocky, and the sea's waves crash up against the rocks, throwing up tons of spray. A small jungle can be seen as one heads deeper into the island toward the south. Strange whoops and shrieks and calls echo from the depths, and it is alive with life.

Jungle

A huge jungle sprawls out here. Large trees and vines descend from above. The area blossoms with all kind of life. Fruit hangs in abundance from the trees. Although bulging with life, these trees can harbor dangers as the area tends to harbor fierce predators.

Clearing in the Jungle

This is a small clearing in the jungle. It seems strange that in an area teeming with life there would be a bare spot. Yet here there is tree branches have fallen here and bits of bark lie strewn across the ground. Perhaps there is more than this than meets the eye. Or it could just be some weird coincidence.

The Jungle

This is a jungle brimming with life. Birds swoop in overhead and monkeys eat the fruit. If one climbs a tree one can see the sea in all directions. This area is beautiful. Large trees cast shadows and block out the sun. The life is crawling and growing on top of each other. Of course it is also feeding off each other...

Small Island to the North

The clear waters of the Sea is here. To the north is a small island. It appears to be a small sandy beach. In other directions there is only the great, rough Sea. Birds fly around near this island.

Stars Reflecting in the Fallen Sea

The rough, clear waters of the Sea of Fallen stars is here. Small fishes swim in its depths. The waters form whitecaps even when the wind is mostly calm. It is said that powerful currents drag swimmers under and that it is unwise to swim it. Small islands abound in this sea.

A Large Island is Nearby

To the west is a large island sticking about in the sea. It stands out although it was difficult to see from a distance due to its strange coloration. The island seems to be somewhat populated. Some kind of buildings are on it but they are difficult to make out from here. The sea extends in all other directions.

Sky of Blue...Sea of Green

The waters of the Sea take on a greenish tinge here. Probably due to the green algae floating on top. The waves are rough, yet the algae still manages to cling to each other and float in the mess. The seas extend in many directions. Sporadically fish jump around chasing other fish or being chased by other fish.

Sea of Fallen Stars

This is the Sea of Fallen Stars. Dotting the Sea the islands that make up the Pirate Islands stick out and about. The sea waters are rough and unswimmable. The waves churn up whitewater and although the fishing may be good. It would take a large, sturdy boat to traverse these waters.

Bird Island

This is a small sandy island inhabited only by birds it appears. Small ones large ones. Some of them are in the sky and most of them appear to be harmless. Bones litter the beach here and something large and carnivorous must use this as a lair. Perhaps this island is not quite as safe as it seems.

Archipelago

This large island juts out from the mainland. It is larger than many of the other ones in the sea. Footprints can be seen in the sand to the south, heading from the beach here. Some of the footprints are human sized, the others may be something else entirely. The sea is to the east.

Pirate Island

One would have to assume that this is the island that gives the islands their name. Footprints cover the beach here. A lighthouse is to the south, although right now it isn't lit. The docks and other features blend in from the ocean looking like trees and other vegetation. This is probably a rough and tumble kind of place.

Lighthouse

A large lighthouse stands here erectly out of the ground. At the top the large torch is unlit so as not to draw undue attention to this island. A path extends to the west to some docks, and to the north is a sandy beach.

Den o' Thieves

This is the common room for any who make it here. There is a large bar with many liquors. Men, trolls, ogres, and elves as well as many other races gamble and dine here. The atmosphere is filled with pipe smoke and sweat and smells of drink. A small exit can be seen to the north away from the main room.

Pirate Docks

These are the docks where the pirates tie up their ships. Large, burly guards let no one aboard who is not one of their crew. The waters of the Sea of Fallen Stars lie to the south, and a trail winds east around the lighthouse. At the western end of the docks a large fern and a tangle of other plants make a solid green wall.

Skeletal Remains

Bones. The bones of two hundred dead lie heaped in this hollow beneath the standing stones, the small skeletons cracked and broken, left where whatever cataclysm struck this island threw them down. Broken columns and fallen statues lie among them; whoever these people were, they all died at the same moment. A slope of rubble climbs up toward the stones.

Guard Room

This is a small room that is used to block passage to the upper floors of the Lair. A table is here as well as 2 sets of drinks. A trapdoor can be seen in the ceiling, and a small exit south leads to the main room. Faint smells come from the bar. The trapdoor has a silver handle on it.

Inner Chamber

This is a room deep in the heart of the building. Two exits blocked by large doors are to the north and south. The walls here are old and the floor is worn and squeaks. Dried blood lines the floors a marking showing those who have displeased whoever runs this place.

Room of the Pirate King

THis is the room of the pirate king. It is a glorious thing to be a pirate king. Large jeweles and diamonds adorn his office in many ways. On the chair, in the cabinets. Everywhere. The room is lit with a large continual light orb in a small hooded lantern with a string running to a lever on the wall to flip a drawstring over it. An orange rug lies on the ground covering the floor. An impressive painting is on the wall here depicting the pirates taking over another ship.

Office of the King

This is a large office. These pirates seem to have some organization after all: a neat desk holds papers and other documents, and a large bookcase holds an enormous store of scrolls. Records matter little to pirates, and the room looks hardly used. A door to the north is the only apparent exit.

Secret Passage

This is a secret passage leading downwards through the building. The corridor is dark and the fresh air from below provides a refreshing breeze. The way down is little more than a large ramp. A wall is to the east and the corridor heads downward.

Hidden Treasury

This appears to be the treasure depository of the pirates. Large barrels and crates lie here containing foodstuffs and wine. Many objects d'art are also present waiting for a potential buyer one would assume. It is really a menagerie of all kinds of useful and potentially valuable objects. A corridor heads upwards and southwards.

Potential Escape Tunnel

This tunnel runs a long way south from the treasury, under the island, to a wide chamber opening onto a sandy beach. The blue waters of the Sea of Fallen Stars are just in view beyond it.

Strange Hidden Turnstile

This hidden turnstile lets one out onto the beach and the docks to the east, but never back in: anyone trying to come the other way would be caught on the razor blades that cover the far side of every slot. The blades look as if they are coated with poison. From the docks, a large fern hides the whole thing from view. The tunnel leads back north.

Within the Sphere

The inside of this sphere holds a small circular room. It contains everything that one might need to survive, food, water, a place to sleep. A large bookcase can provide hours of entertainment and one can look through a glassteel panel at the bottom of the sphere. This artifact is obviously quite magical and probably is the work of some demented mage.

Path to Castle Amber

This path leads to a small castle, which stands just to the north. The trees part here and the ground is softer: grass grows here in summer, and in winter snow blankets it. A small trail heads west into the forest.

Cormyr in the Forest

The King's Forest of Cormyr is thick here and can be dangerous. Ancient trees, the last of this great forest, tower overhead, and it is said that the elves of this place defend their home with a vengeance. The path runs north and south along the river, and a side path leads east toward a small castle.

The Forest of Cormyr

A small trail winds here on the outskirts of the forest. It seems to be well traveled. Large trees and shrubs block the sunlight and make the forest seem somewhat forbidding. The path here heads west and south, although it is covered with fallen leaves and other debris, it also seems well traveled.

Bridge over the River

A large bridge is here crossing a mighty river in the forest. The dirt trail heads right for it. The bridge is constructed of stone, and is built well off from the river so that flooding doesn't damage it. A trail heads east and west across the bridge.

Bend in the Forest Path

The path twists around the great forest of Cormyr here. Ominous sounds come from deep in the woods, and it is said that dragons roam the forest ready to eat those who brave it, though the dense foliage is what really bars the way. A small stone building stands among the trees. The path runs north, and east to a bridge over the river.

A Forest Path Through Cormyr

A small path runs through the outskirts of this mighty forest. The path is covered with leaves, yet also well traveled. Tall trees covered with large green leaves are everywhere and birds and other animals abound in the foliage above. The Starwater River blocks the way east although one can see a bridge to the south-east.

Trail through Cormyr Forest

This is a small trail heading east and west though the King's Forest. The trees grow tall overhead, yet when it's day, sunlight streams down through. Lichen grow on the trees in the shade and although the path is well traveled, the forest itself seems virginal.

King's Forest and a Trail Too

The tall trees overhead shadow a dark trail running east and west through the King's Forest. Birds and small animals are everywhere, and every now and again it seems as if something larger is moving deeper in the woods, though the dense foliage hides whatever it is.

Bend in a Forested Trail

This is a bend in a forested trail. The trees grow in natural abundance and the air is thick with damp, and the forest is never completely quiet. The trail heads east and south through the woods, and a way out to the cart road leads north.

Cormyr

This is the Cormyr. The forest rises above and the foliage obscures the sun sometimes. Birds chirp in the often green leaves. The forest extends in all directions, although a small dirt trail heads north and south through it.

Bend in the Forest Path

This is a small path through the forest. The semi-impenetrable woods press close on both sides, and dark things sometimes move within them. The path runs north and south.

Forest In Cormyr

A small trail skirts the western edge of the King's Forest here. Fungus grows on the tall brown trunks, small game roams nearby, and sometimes deer can be glimpsed between the trees. The trail runs north and south.

Forest of Cormyr

This is the forest of Cormyr. Tall trees give plenty of shade in this dark wilderness, and shadows creep between the trunks. A well traveled path skirts the forest here, running north and south.

A Change of Direction

The forest path runs north and south here. The woods on its eastern side are impenetrable, and strange sounds come out of them. The elven city of Dhedluk is said to lie deep within those woods, and the elves are said not to tolerate visitors well.

Outskirts of the Forest

This is the outskirts of the great dark forest of Cormyr. Tall trees covered with lichen and moss grow here majestically, and there is a constant rustling in the undergrowth. A well trodden path turns here, running north and east.

Outskirts of Cormyr

The dark mass of the King's Forest rises beside the path. Far to the west tall mountains can be seen above the trees. The forest is little traveled and foul beasts are known to roam its depths; it is said there is a city hidden in it, though that may only be a myth. The path runs east and west.

Bending Turning Forest

The path bends around a large tree here and runs east and west. It is well traveled and patrolled every now and again; the forest around it is not, and many would call it very dangerous.

Dirt Trail Through the Forest

This is little more than a dirt trail through the pine forest. Pine needles and the occasional cone cover the ground. The trail runs north and west through the woods, and a way out to the cart road leads south.

Trail of Cormyr

This is a trail through the King's Forest in Cormyr. It travels here north and south. Movement and strange sounds can be seen and heard respectively in the impenetrable forest. Are the dark shapes mere tricks of the eye? Only time will tell.

Something Strange in the Forest

There is something odd in the forest to the north here. A path seems to run through it. Where it leads is a mystery. It isn't as well traveled as the trail running south and east.

Trail Through the Forest

A trail winds its way east through the pine forest. Large trees tower overhead. The ground is covered with the tiny brown needles of the trees. The trail is dirt covered, yet fairly well traveled. It extends east and west. There is also a large river here running north and south. A bridge crosses it. The waters look fast.

Forested Trail

A small trail is cut through the dark forest of Cormyr here. It is rutted and fairly well traveled, and pine needles and leaves cover the patchy grass. The trail runs north along the river and west to a bridge.

Forest Path

This is a forested path heading north and south through the forest. A large river blocks the way west flowing speedily. Green trees create a canopy overhead where birds chirp and sing endlessly.

Entryway

This is the entryway of Castle Amber, a large stone room under a low ceiling, big enough for several people; it is here that folk come to beseech the Baron for aid. Paintings of the previous lords of the manor line the walls. A staircase leads up, the guards' chambers are to the east, and the castle gate is to the south.

A Passage

This is little more than a passageway heading west to where the Baron and Baroness live with their retainers. The hallway is clean and neat. The smooth grey stone walls extend to the west and a stairwell down is present as well.

Royal Bedrooms

This is the end of a large stone passage. Two doors lie to the north and south. On the northern door is a large picture of a great horned owl. The carving is rather ornate gilded with gold in places. A plain door lies south, and the hallway extends eastward.

Chamber of the Baron

This opulent chamber holds a very large bed. It is canopied. Large red drapes hang from the side of it. A large mirror hangs opposite the bed and below the mirror is a small dresser. A small closet is here also with flowing dresses and beautiful robes. Someone of some importance probably lives in this room.

Children's Room

This is the room for the children. There is a large crib here. Small toys are lined neatly along shelves in the room. A large pink and blue swirl carpet covers the entire floor. Bunk beds line one wall. The upper bed tidy and neat, while the lower one messy and unkempt. A plain door leads north back into the Manor.

Guards Chambers

This is the chamber of the guards of Castle Amber. The room is quite large and able to comfortably hold fifty men. There are tables for playing cards and chatting and racks for weapons. Many of the guard sleep here, although some have families in the outlying countryside.

Castle Amber

A small stone castle is here standing out of the forest. It is here, from Castle Amber, that a small baron makes his ancestral home. A small gate is here allowing entrance to the castle. The forest lies to the south.

Entrance to Dhedluk

This is the elven city of Dhedluk. A large gate lies to the north. It appears to be the only entrance to the city. Twin watchtowers stand on each side of the gate allowing the mighty archers to shoot dead unwanted foes. A large open gate is north.

City Of Dhedluk

This is the elven city of Dhedluk. Homes stand on every side of the street, and the whole town is ringed by a great wall. The elves watch strangers closely, and their streets close to visitors beyond this square; the only way in or out is the gate to the south.
