A Disused Track

This track must once have seen a lot of traffic, but now it is becoming overgrown with grass and weeds. To the south are fields filled with unharvested crops, while to the north and west are dark trees at the edge of a marsh. The track continues to run between the trees and the fields to the east, while to the west it leads into the depths of the wetlands.

A Bend in the Track

Here the track turns to the south, leading toward what looks like a small village in the distance. The fields continue to the east, while to the north a small path leaves the main track, heading toward a dark forest.

Nearing the Village

This trail winds its way through the fields toward a small village. On either side are deserted farmhouses, many with doors and windows swinging open. Farm implements have been carelessly left lying around, and half starved animals wander the area searching for food. It is obvious that the people who lived here left in a hurry, without stopping to gather their possessions.

Center of a Small Village

A small well is in the center of this village, a rope with a bucket tied to the end is used to raise water from deep underground. To the east is a rundown house, the smoke rising from its chimney suggests that at least someone still lives here. Southward is a larger building with a sign hanging in front, the crude picture identifies it as a shop of some sort. To the west is the largest building in the village, its sign proclaiming it as an inn.

A Small House

This is a very cramped dwelling with a single room, though from the number of beds it must house an entire family. Children's clothes are in a neat pile by a table, while a small stove in the corner is used for cooking and keeping the house at a comfortable temperature.

A Deserted Inn

This large inn was once the meeting place for the inhabitants of the area, but now it seems all but deserted. There is a large common room here, with seating and a bar for serving food and drinks. A large fireplace once used for keeping the patrons warm sits cold and empty against the western wall, while a large door to the east leads back out into the center of the village.

Corman's General Store

This small shop seems to be well stocked with food and other items useful for an isolated farming community. There are a few items of greater value in a display case on the wall, while a large oaken counter is used to serve customers. A small door to the north leads back out into the village.

Entering the Forest

To the north of here extends a deep forest, while fields lie south. Huge trees loom up on all sides, and strange sounds can be heard from within the undergrowth. Far above small spots of blue sky are visible, but very little light reaches the forest floor.

A Path through the Deep Forest

The forest is so thick that no sunlight can penetrate the solid dark green canopy. The air is damp and stale, smelling of earth and decay, and leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. The strange sounds have faded, but the complete silence that follows is much worse, as it seems no living creature has ever passed through this forest.

A Winding Path through the Deep Forest

The path has begun to wind through the trees as it slowly turns north and west. The forest is as quiet as a grave, and it is impossible to see more than a few feet away from the path. The trees on all sides and the branches above seem to form a long tunnel leading deeper into the darkness.

The Northern Edge of the Forest

The trees begin to thin out here, allowing sunlight to shine down through the branches to the forest floor. To the north the path leads down a small slope toward a huge wasteland that spreads out below for as far as the eye can see. In the distance an enormous tower sticks up from the tundra like the lance of a titanic giant. Solid black, even at this distance a glowing blue light can be seen to emanate from the tip. The blue glow seems to spread around the entire tower, but it is impossible to tell for sure without a closer look. To the south the path leads deeper into a dark forest.

The Edge of the Wasteland

The path widens into a road as it enters the wasteland, heading straight and flat toward the tower to the north. To the south the path leads up a small hill to the edge of the dark forest. A strong dry wind blows across a wasteland from the east, throwing up dust and making travel uncomfortable.

Windy Road through the Wasteland

Out on the wasteland proper the wind is very strong, making travel only possible hunched over with eyes protected from the wind. The road continues straight and flat, heading north toward the now clearly visible black tower and south toward the forest. The blue glow from highest point of the tower can be seen as a huge globe of light, enveloping the tower in a glowing blue sphere. The wind and sand seem to blow around the edge of the sphere, unable to penetrate it.

The Edge of the Blue Sphere

The edge of the glowing blue light is now only a few feet to the north. It rises straight upwards before slowly curving around towards its source at the pinnacle of the tower. On this side of the glow the sand is whipped into a fury by the wind, a few feet away on the other side not a single grain moves. To the south the road heads back toward the distant forest.

Inside the Blue Sphere

This side of the blue wall is completely free of wind and sand, all is still and the silence is deafening. To the north the tower rises straight up out of the wasteland, seeming completely out of place in its surroundings. Appearing solid from the outside, it looms up for hundreds of feet, ending in a sharp point on which the globe of blue light rests. At the base of the tower are two surprisingly normally sized gates, wide open to allow free entrance into the tower's dark interior.

Outside the Black Gates

These large gates seem to be made of the same obsidian like substance as the rest of the tower. The surface is pure shiny black, and any attempts to dent or scratch it seem futile. Directly above, the tower rises upwards in an unnaturally straight slope toward the peak. A solid black hallway leads deeper into the tower beyond the gates, while to the south is the road leading through the blue wall to safety.

A Dark Passage

This passageway is almost completely devoid of light, and the walls are smooth and featureless. A faint blue glow shines down the passage from what looks like a small hall to the north. To the south a small rectangle of sunlight shows that the gates remain open.

A Small Entrance Hall

At this point the corridor widens into a small entrance hall lit by a glowing blue orb floating in the center. A large staircase rises to the north, while to the east and west hallways lead off into the darkness. To the south, a passageway leads towards the gates.

Southwestern Corridor

This corridor leads into the western side of the tower. Smaller glowing balls of blue light hang along the ceiling at regular intervals, barely bright enough to see by. In the south wall is a solid iron door, hinged straight into the obsidian, while to the west a turn in the corridor can be seen. East leads to the entrance hall.

Southern Corridor

Blue globes give light to this corridor as it leads deep into the eastern side of the tower. The air begins to feel humid, and a sickly sweet smell is noticeable. The entrance hall is to the west, while the corridor leads onward to the east.

Halfway up the Black Staircase

As progress is slowly made up this staircase, care must be taken to avoid slipping on the smooth black steps. The dim light bathes everything in a strange blue glow, making objects appear ghostly and unreal. Above is the top of the staircase, while to the south the entrance hall can be seen.

The Top of the Black Staircase

At the top of the staircase is a large landing area, lit by a glowing red sphere floating in the air. This level of the tower seems more ornate than below. The smooth walls have been carved into strange scenes of death and battle. At the end of a wide hallway to the north are a pair of large doors, opening into complete darkness. Dark black symbols carved into the wood identify it as the entrance to a temple of Mortenheim, God of Necromancy. Shadowy corridors bathed in red light lead off to the east and west.

Southwestern Corner

The clean perfection of the tower is broken by a small pool of blood here, still fresh. A door made of a strange red stone streaked with gold has been set into the western wall, a small keyhole is visible near its center. The corridor continues to the north and east.

Eastern Corridor

The corridor continues to the north and south, while to the east is an archway leading into what looks like a large storage room. The floor of the corridor is slightly dusty, and small chunks of rock are strewn around. A few more drops of blood lie ominously on the floor, still fresh.

Northwestern Corner

At this point the corridor turns again, heading to the south and east. Cold radiates from an iron door set in the western wall, and beads of condensation drip down to the floor. In the distance to the east a faint green light is visible.

Southeastern Corner

Dust and fragments of bone are visible on the floor as the corridor turns to the north here. A wooden door that appears freshly made is set into the south wall, a trail of dust leads beneath. A small amount of steam floats in from the north, carrying with it a sickly sweet odor. To the west a dim corridor leads off into the distance.

Eastern Corridor

Steam issues from an archway to the east here, causing water to drip down the walls and form into puddles on the floor. The sickly sweet smell floats heavily in the air, and any object that comes into contact with the mist becomes damp and slippery. The corridor continues to the north and south.

Northeastern Corner

This quiet corner of the tower seems slightly humid, and faint steam can be seen drifting in from the south. A sweet smell hangs in the air, reminiscent of over-ripe fruit. The corridor leads west and south.

Northern Corridor

This portion of the corridor is lit by a strange green glow coming from a hall to the west. A wooden door in the northern wall is the only other feature in the plain black surface. The corridor continues east and west.

A Glowing Green Hall

This room is bathed in a bright green glow, though no single light source is visible. It is only possible to see clearly through squinted eyes, as the light seems to penetrate into the brain. The corridor continues to the east and west, while an archway to the north leads into a small stairwell.

Northern Corridor

The green glow is clearly visible now, coming from a hall to the east. The light from the blue globes meets with the green here, mixing to form strange shades of turquoise. The corridor continues to the east and west, walls as featureless as ever.

The Top of a Spiral Stairwell

This is the top of a spiral stairwell that leads down into the bowels of the tower. Faint screams and moans are barely audible from below. Someone, or something, must be alive down there. The smell of death wafts up the stairs, and fresh blood has been splashed on the walls and floor. An archway to the south leads to a glowing green hall.

A Large Storage Room

This large storage room is dominated by piles of some type of dark black ore. A small chute in the southern wall is used to transport the ore to a lower level where the sounds of clanging metal can be heard. The air is full of dust, and it is hard to breathe without inhaling a mouthful of grit. An archway to the west leads out into a corridor.

A Frozen Storage Room

Ice and frost cover the walls of this room, and the temperature is well below freezing. Small iron hooks have been driven into the ceiling, unused at the moment. Beneath the ice is the same black rock that seems to form the entire tower. A door to the west leads out into a corridor.

A Well Furnished Study

This small study is well furnished with an oaken desk and soft woolen carpeting. There is a large bookshelf on the northern wall, well stocked with leather covered tomes. The desk itself is covered in neat stacks of paper. One sheet lying on top has been read recently. Oaken chairs matching the desk rest around the room, the largest of these covered by deep crimson cushions. A door to the east leads out into a corridor.

An Armory

This room contains all manner of armor and weaponry, made of the same dark black substance as the tower. Racks on the walls hold swords and axes, while suits of full black plate rest upright on metal stands. There is enough battle equipment here for a small army. Through a door to the north is the southern corridor.

A Room Covered with Bones

Dusty old bones lie in piles around this room, some covered with small globs of flesh and dirt. The state that the bones are in suggests that they may have been dug up from old graves nearby. Through a wooden door to the north is a black corridor.

A Huge Vat of Liquid

This large room is dominated by a huge iron vat that contains a hot sticky liquid. Steam rises from the surface, filling the air with an odor like rotting fruit that assaults the nostrils and makes breathing difficult. A closer examination of the vat shows solid chunks of an unknown material dissolving in the hot liquid. A small metal pipe in the side of the vat leads through the floor, transporting the strange substance somewhere below. The way back to the corridor lies through an archway to the west.

A Tool Room

Pickaxes, spades, forge hammers, and other tools of all types are hanging from hooks driven in the hard black walls of this room. Along the northern side rests a large pile of wooden boards, while chunks of uncut stone seem to have been carelessly strewn about. A door to the south leads out to the dark corridor.

A Dim Red corridor

The corridor bends at this point, and is lit intermittently by small red globes floating above. A large black door with a small keyhole is set into the western wall, while to the north is a smaller wooden door. The landing of the black staircase is to the east.

A Dim Red corridor

The small globes of red light floating along the ceiling of this corridor give the impression that the area is covered in dark, crimson blood. To the north is a heavy iron door, a large lock keeping it secure from intruders. A smaller door is set into the eastern wall, intricate black gilding flowing down its wooden panels. The corridor continues southward, while to the west is the top of the black staircase.

Outside the Temple Doors

Huge doors loom to the north, beyond which only solid darkness is visible. The lack of light seems unnatural, and a terrible stench drifts from within. The carvings on the doors are clearly visible, as strange black symbols and pictures radiating pure evil cover every inch. To the south is an intersection above a black staircase.

The Temple of Mortenheim

The darkness here seems like a living entity, sucking up the little light available as if to fill a boundless hunger. The stronger the light, the more hungry is the darkness. It is never possible to see more than a few feet ahead. The stench is terrible now. Unidentifiable objects crunch underfoot, sticking to the soles of footwear. Southward the doors lead away from this abode of evil.

Beneath the Black Altar

Rising above is an enormous black altar, seemingly crafted from the stuff of nightmares. The darkness is even thicker here, wrapping around on all sides like a solid shroud of death. Beneath the altar lies the source of the stench, all manner of offerings to the god Mortenheim, assorted humanoid limbs and organs among them.

The Black Altar

Hate and evil seem to flow from this altar in waves, spreading out into the temple below. The darkness that was obscuring vision has dissipated now, and it is finally possible to see the huge dimensions of this place. Walls covered with strange carvings rise into a slow arch, meeting high above, and on the opposite wall a 40 foot statue of a strange robed figure has been carved out of solid rock. A huge carving of a demon fills the northern wall of the temple, an expression of evil insanity spread across its face. Steps lead down to the temple floor below.

A Bend in the Red Corridor

The corridor turns to the east here, leading toward an intersection in the distance. The small globes emit enough light to see that a thick ebony door with a red skull carved into the wood is set into the south wall. To the north another turn in the corridor can be seen.

A Red Corridor

The featureless corridor is broken by a delicately engraved archway in the south wall here. Through the archway a large spiral staircase can be seen, leading up to a higher level of the tower. A single red globe of light floats in front of the archway, spraying the corridor in an eerie crimson glow.

The Bottom of a Large Stairwell

This large stairwell rises into the darkness above, twisting around a thick central pole. The stairs themselves are clear and smooth, reflecting dim red light from an archway to the north in all directions. A faint green glow is coming from higher up the stairwell, mixing with the red light to form strange shades of brown.

A Bend in the Red Corridor

The corridor runs to the north and west here, still lit intermittently by the dim red globes. A plain wooden door lies to the south, a clear purple fang imprinted on its surface. An unnatural chill seems to flow from beyond the door, penetrating right to the bone.

A Small Dark Cubicle

A desk, a chair, and a small shelf the only furnishings in this small cubicle. On the desk are an assortment of scrolls and tomes, covered with the symbols of magic. The shelf contains a small collection of magical components, as well as more magical scrolls and tomes. Many of the room's objects have been moved from their proper places and strewn over the floor, as if the occupant of the room had misplaced something valuable. There is a strong smell of decay in the air, as if something long dead is nearby. Through a wooden door to the north is the dimly lit corridor.

A Strange Storage Room

This room is full of supplies used for laboratory experiments and spell weaving. Cages with small animals scurrying around inside line the walls, and a huge number of spell components are stored in shelves around the room. Glass jars containing chemicals can also be seen on the shelves, while three large barrels full of some type of dust rest on the floor. A wooden door in the south wall leads out into a corridor.

A Large Laboratory

A large bench dominates the center of this room, covered with strange glass tubes and containers. Chemicals slowly boil, drip and condense into new mixtures, filling nostrils with an acrid odor. Shelves run around the outside of the room, lined with jars containing bat droppings, sheep eyes, and all manner of other substances. A cage in the corner holds small white mice whose fate can only be guessed at, while a door to the east leads out into the red corridor.

A Blackened Spellcasting Chamber

This large room seems to have been made for the sole purpose of perfecting new spells, though blackened objects and fresh char marks on the walls indicate that not everything cast here has had the desired effect. Shelves around the room contain spell components placed for easy access, while caged animals are used to practice compulsion and transformation magic. A door to the south leads out into a corridor.

A Well Stocked Library

Every available space in this room is filled by bookshelves and scroll racks. Candles have been placed at regular intervals around the room, giving off just enough light to read by. Hundreds of books and scrolls line the shelves, mostly magic related though a few titles on war and leadership are visible. The smell of aging parchment and varnished wood is strong in the air. A door to the west leads out into the red corridor.

A Cold Chamber

This chamber is completely empty apart from a small desk and a chair in corner. The temperature seems very low, the cold seeps into the skin and chills down to the bone. A single sheet of paper rests on the desk, looking like a letter at first glance. A door to the north leads out into the corridor.

A Large Stairwell

Mid-way up this stairwell the steps flatten out into a landing, allowing access to a large archway in the northern wall. A green lit corridor is visible beyond the archway, and the aroma of cooking can be detected. The stairs wind upward into total darkness, while below they lead down toward a dim red glow.

The Top of a Large Stairwell

The stairwell ends here, an archway to the north leading into what looks like an entry foyer. This level of the tower seems to be completely devoid of light, only a faint green glow shining up from below dispels the darkness.

A Green Hallway

This level is lit by the same globes of light found throughout the rest of the tower, though here they are green. The kitchen smell is strong in this section of the hallway, floating from underneath a wooden door in the western wall. Through an archway to the south is a large stairwell, while to the north the hallway finishes in a dead end. An ornately carved door of solid mahogany has been set into the eastern wall, and the sound of a roaring fire can be heard from beyond it.

A Plush Dining Room

This dining room is well furnished with a large oaken table and fine woolen carpeting. The plain black walls are given color by demonic paintings and tapestries hanging on the walls. A large fireplace heats the room, not burning on any visible fuel except magic. Eight places have been set out at the table, as if a meal will begin soon. A mahogany door to the east leads out into a corridor.

The End of the Hallway

The green-lit hallway ends abruptly here, where doors of the same solid mahogany are set in the east, north, and west walls. A large red skull has been imprinted into the eastern door, whereas a sharp green fang engraved in the western door seems to glow softly. To the south the hallway leads towards a stairwell.

A Candlelit Bedchamber

Candlelight flickers across this chamber, casting strange shadows over the walls and ceiling. The floor is carpeted with thick crimson wool that gives softly underfoot, while the walls are tastefully decorated with tapestries. A huge bed dominates the center of the bedroom, but red silk draperies flow down gracefully obscuring view of the bed's interior. A large mahogany wardrobe and several small tables complete the room's furnishings, and a door in the western wall leads into the green corridor.

A Large Scrying Chamber

The only item of note in the small chamber is a large crystal ball resting on a tall black stand. The orb seems to be slightly cloudy, as if it contains a liquid of some sort. A mahogany door in the south wall leads back to the green corridor.

A Well Furnished Bedchamber

Tasteful oaken and mahogany furniture fills this room, while paintings and tapestries on the wall add to the feeling of comfort. On the western side of the room sits a large bed, covered in black sheets. Closer to the doorway in the eastern wall are a bookshelf and a desk, both made of the same varnished oak. A letter and a number of tomes rest open on the desk, mostly full of incomprehensible magical symbols.

A Secret Stairwell

This tiny stairwell is barely large enough to stand in, and is obviously used for secret passage from the rooms above to the bedroom below. The stairwell winds upward above, while to the south a small passage leads to a wardrobe.

A Dark Chamber

Everything in this room seems to be shades of black or grey, from the alien paintings on the walls to the large table in the center. Archways in the north, east and west walls give the impression of the room being larger than it is, and the huge iron door to the south makes it seem a little like a prison. The floor is carpeted with thick black wool, while the statues around the room are carved from mahogany or obsidian. There is only one seat at the large dining table, made up of obsidian and cushioned with black fabric.

A Private Library

Three bookcases line the northern, eastern, and southern walls of this room, carved of solid black mahogany. Though they do not contain a large number of tomes, it is obvious that what they have has been selected with the finest care, from texts of advanced battle deployment to almost anything of value ever written on the subject of necromancy. The room is filled with the scent of aged parchment and dust since fresh air seldom circulates on this level of the tower. An archway to the east leads to a dark living chamber.

A Large Bedchamber

A large bed fills the center of this room, covered with soft black silk sheets. Black and grey tapestries depicting torture and battle line the walls, the colorless shades almost seem to be shadows of something sneaking up behind. To the west lies a small archway leading to what looks like a private shrine of some sort, while to the south another larger archway leads into the main living area of the rooms.

A Busy Kitchen

The air of this kitchen is filled with smoke and steam issuing from numerous stoves and grills around the room. A large leg of venison is slowly cooking on a spit, filling the kitchen with the smell of roasting meat. Various types of vegetables boil in saucepans on the stoves, while a large stacks of plates is used to serve the meals once fully prepared. A long, thin chimney in the roof allows some of the smoke to escape, and a door in the eastern wall leads back out into the hallway.

A Small Shrine to Mortenheim

Small black candles light this room, giving off a cloyingly sweet smell. A miniature altar at the back of the room is covered by a thin black cloth. Some symbols and talismans of Mortenheim rest carefully atop the altar. Behind the altar is a large effigy of the god Mortenheim, carved out of what seems to be solid bone dyed black. A small archway to the east leads back to the bedchamber.

The Western End of a Huge Spellcasting Chamber

This chamber is huge, filling the inside of highest portion of the tower. A bright blue glow provides light to see by shines down from a small hole at the pinnacle. A thin walkway winds around the inside of the walls, leading upward toward the hole. The chamber is mostly full of strange stands, potions, and containers, with a large area left clear for spell casting. Below is a small trapdoor leading down to the study, while the chamber widens out to the east.

A Huge Spellcasting Chamber

This is the center of the huge spellcasting chamber, directly below the bright blue light far above. The bottom of the walkway that spirals up to the hole is nearby, it is barred off and looks slightly rusted as if it has not been opened in a while. A large table sits in the center of the room, covered with spell components and tomes which have recently been used. The walls of the chamber are covered by carvings of all types, large beholders in the northern and southern walls, and a skull in the eastern wall standing out in particular. To the west lies the other end of the chamber, and the trapdoor leading below.

The Lich's Treasure Room

This small chamber has been carved out of the solid obsidian for the purpose of keeping the arch-lich's private treasures safe. The air is old stale, it has probably been a long time since Yasulith was last here. A small hole in the western wall leads back out into the spellcasting chamber.

The Pinnacle of the Tower

The walkway opens out into a small parapet which runs around the rim of the tower's pinnacle and allows for an incredible view for miles in all directions. Far below lies a wasteland which stretches out from all sides of the tower. A huge, primeval forest can be seen to the west of the wasteland, and a dark river runs to the north. Majestic, snow-capped mountains rise along the wasteland's border, the highest of which reaches into the heavens. To the south, an arm of the dark forest reaches across the land. Beyond it, some farmland can be seen. Directly above the highest point of the tower is a huge sphere of blue light which spreads out to encompass the tower within a shimmering orb. The blue light pulses all around, making it impossible to see without shading one's eyes. Below is a small opening onto a rusty iron walkway.

A Small Stone Chamber

This small stone room is bare and featureless apart from a strange spherical indentation in the floor. An archway to the south leads into a large spellcasting chamber.

A Small Stone Chamber

This small stone room is bare and featureless apart from a strange spherical indentation in the floor. An archway to the north leads into a large spellcasting chamber.

An Eerie Study

The feeling of being watched is strong in this study, the carvings and tapestries on the walls seem to have living eyes. A large desk sits in the center of the room, a chair that almost qualifies as a throne sitting behind it. On the desk are writing implements and blank sheets of paper, with a small wax seal for closing letters containing orders. A letter written on soft red parchment rests on the table, recently read. The ceiling of the room is paneled with intricately carved wood, and a large map on the western wall shows the entire known realms. An archway to the east leads into the dark living room.

A Cramped Cellar

This small cellar is used to store money and supplies for the family that lives above. An unstable wooden ladder is fixed to the southern wall, allowing passage back up into the house. Two iron hooks have been driven into the center of the northern wall, the floor nearby covered in a thick coat of dust.

A Secret Chamber

This cramped chamber is used to hide the items that the vampire has stolen from various places. Chests and shelves line the walls, filled with trinkets of all types. A small passage to the south leads back to the study.

The Temple Treasury

This secret treasury is filled with all manner of items, from chests of gold coins to staves and scrolls. The stale air reeks of death, and the carvings of demons covering the walls seem to wish death upon any unwise enough to steal the treasures they are guarding. A small opening to the south leads back to the black altar.

An Entry Foyer

There is no light in this small entry foyer - it is cold, dry, and silent. The obsidian walls are covered with shadowy carvings of demons in battle, their eyes filled with bloodlust. Ahead looms a large solid steel door, a thick lock keeps it safe from intruders. The only other exit is south to the large stairwell.

A Secret Stairwell

The stairwell ends abruptly here, leading onto a small landing at the top of the stairs. A hole in the black obsidian wall covered by the back of a tapestry leads out of the secret passage, while the stairs below lead down to a lower level of the tower.

A Spiral Stairwell

An archway to the south leaves the stairwell here, leading into a corridor flickering with yellow light. The screams are clearly audible now, floating in through the southern archway. The stairwell continues to lead downward below, heading deep below the surface.

The Cellar

The stairwell ends here, opening out into a large storage cellar filled with all manner of strange objects. Bags of grain, looted belongings, strange statues, even robes and cloaks cover the room. To the east and west the cellar stretches out into darkness, while above the stairwell leads up to a higher level of the tower.

A Flickering Corridor

Balls of flickering yellow flame float along the ceiling, burning from no visible fuel but magic. The light casts jagged shadows on the obsidian walls, and it is hard to tell which shadow belongs to which objects. Pools of blood and bloody footprints cover the floor, obviously no effort is made to keep this level of the tower clean. Small corridors lead off to the east and west, while in the south wall a large iron door blocks passage in that direction. The screams seem to come from all around, echoing down the corridors.

A Dimly Lit Corridor

This dimly lit corridor leads to the east and west, floating globes of flame providing just enough light to see by. A few small chunks of black granite lie strewn on the ground, the sound of footsteps crunching on them echoes throughout the corridor.

A Dimly Lit Corridor

The dimly lit corridor ends at a large iron door in the southern wall here, bolted firmly closed with a thick lock. The smell of death floats from behind the door, and a small trickle of blood leaks out from beneath. To the west the corridor becomes brighter, leading toward an intersection.

A Dark Corridor

There is no light at all in this corridor and the obsidian walls are rough and hastily formed. Footsteps and trails of blood cover the floor as if something heavy has been dragged past here recently. The corridor continues to the south, while to the north is a large iron door.

End of the Corridor

The dark corridor ends here where a large pool of half dried blood forms in the center of the floor. A terrible stench floats in from iron barred cells to the east, west, and south. The cells are secured with thick iron locks, making escape impossible. The cells are lightless, and it is hard to tell who or what is being held prisoner within. The dark corridor heads off to the north.

The End of the Corridor

The corridor ends abruptly at a thick oaken door to the south. Rubble is strewn about the ground here, and the sound of metal clanging on metal can be heard from the south. The smell of molten rock is heavy in the air here. The corridor leads off towards a stairwell east of here.

The Forge

This large room seems to be some type of forge used to create the black obsidian weapons and armor of the undead army. A huge furnace dominates the south side of the room, while a large iron anvil and a number of water barrels are to the west. An archway to the east leads into another area of the forge, while a door to the north leads back to the dimly lit corridor.

The Ore Shaft

This dusty room is the source of the ore used to the west, lowered down from a shaft in the ceiling. Apart from the piles of ore the room is bare. An archway to the west leads to the forge.

A Dirty Cell

Used for prisoners of value, this cell is slightly cleaner than the others, though it is still covered in muck. A small stone bench rests near the wall, and a hole in the corner is used for ablutions. The end of the dark corridor is through bars to the west.

A Dirty Cell

The smell of this small dark cell is terrible and assaults the nostrils relentlessly. The cold, hard stone of the floor is damp and grimy, and covered with unidentifiable muck. Any prisoners held here must suffer terrible conditions. The end of the corridor can be seen through the bars to the east.

A Dirty Cell

This small cell reeks of excretion and death since it has never been cleaned in all the years of its use. There is no light whatsoever in the cell, meaning that the prisoners must endure lying on the cold, hard floor without being able to see. Through the bars to the north is the end of a dark corridor.

A Dark Altar

The stench of drying blood and death fills this room, almost thick enough to touch. Deep crimson blood flows down a black altar in the center of the room, congealing in pools on the floor. A glowing green pentagram is carved around the altar, casting the room in an eerie glow. The walls are covered in strange runes and symbols, throbbing with magical power. An archway to the east leads into an adjoining chamber.

The Preserving Chamber

This room is a lot cleaner than that to the east, but the floor seems to be covered by some type of strange clear fluid that is flowing out of a pipe in the eastern wall. The liquid is collected in a deep pool in the center of the chamber, but a certain amount splashes over the edges. Although it is impossible to tell for sure, there seems to be something moving under the surface of the pool.

Western End of the Cellar

Large bags of grain have been stacked around this end of the cellar. Wheat and barley leak out through small tears in the thick cloth of the bags. Three large stone statues rest against the southern wall, but their origins are impossible to guess at. The cellar is dark and dank, though it seems completely free of vermin. To the east is the center of the cellar and a stairwell which leads to a higher level.

Eastern End of the Cellar

This end of the cellar is stale and dusty, obviously not visited very often. The walls are mainly lined with items that seem to have been looted from nearby houses, including valuable paintings, tapestries, furniture and clothes. In one corner of the cellar is a huge pile of iron swords, shields, armor and axes, some still covered by dried blood. To the west is the center of the cellar and the stairwell leading above.

The Tower Treasury

Glittering treasure fills this small room as chest upon chest of gold bullions rest along the walls. The shiny black obsidian walls reflect the golden light of the coins, making the whole chamber seem as if formed of solid gold. A small hole in the northern wall leads to a corner of a cellar.

A Dark Track

Winding through the dark forest, this old track seems to get more worn the further it leads to the west. Ancient trees rise up on all sides, but the ones to the west seem sickly with more than a few fallen over. The canopy of branches overhead has cut out all view of the sky and smothers the forest in complete darkness. The howling of wolves can be heard in the distance, suggesting that this forest is not completely devoid of life. To the west, the track narrows as marsh weeds and moss overgrow most of what was once a well traveled path. A thin bar of light to the east might be the edge of the forest.

A Chaotic Workroom

Pieces of arms and armor lie strewn around this room,

A Large Training Hall

The solid oaken walls of this large hall are covered in war trophies, banners and ceremonial arms hang from all sides. The floor contains straw combat dummies and various exercise machines, tattered and worn as if they have seen recent heavy usage. In the center of the room a large combat ring has been set up, the wood beneath is pitted and scarred, many mock battles must have been fought within its bounds. To the north lies a heavily barred door, leading into what appears to be an armory. Another door lies to the south, beyond is what could only be described as chaos. To the west an archway leads out into a pleasant garden.

A Well Stocked Armory

All manner of gleaming mithril armor and weapons line the walls of this armory, stored on racks and hooks around the room. Though most of the items show signs of recent use, it is obvious that they are cared for lovingly and kept in perfect condition. Three ornately carved stands have been placed near the northern wall, one looks like it would fit a large axe, one a shield, and one full suit of armor. Next to the stands is a small table, a whetstone and a few other items have been placed on it. To the south a heavily barred door leads out of the armory.

A Mist Shrouded Chamber

Though this chamber still seems to be enclosed by walls, mist flows past on all sides, obscuring a clear view of the room. The mist seems to lack any moisture, but it reeks of powerful magic. To the north an archway can be seen leading back out into a beautiful courtyard, while to the south a luxurious bedroom seems to float within the mist. To the east a shady resting place on a dusty road is barely visible, while in the distance to the west lies a huge wall.

A Peaceful Coutyard

This large courtyard is filled with a beautiful garden. Trees, rose bushes, and a small stream are the main decorations, filling the garden with the soothing sound of flowing water and chirping birds. The air is scented with the delicate aroma of roses, and a comfortable stone seat has been placed next to a large white rose bush. Small stone paths wind through the greenery, leading back into the main building. Small fish can be seen swimming under a small footbridge as one of the paths crosses the stream, before continuing on to meet with the other paths in the center of the garden.

A Comfortable Study

This quiet study is filled with the comfortable scent of books and leather, it seems doubtful that a loud noise has ever invaded the calming atmosphere. Free spaces in the walls of the study contain tasteful paintings, depicting stunning scenery and glorious battles. A large bookshelf containing leather bound tomes fills the eastern wall, while the northern wall is dominated by a huge window looking out over panoramic snowy mountains. In front of the window is a large desk, recently used paper and an inkwell rest atop it. Behind the desk is a huge swivel chair, currently faced to look out over the mountains. In front of the desk are more comfortable chairs, presumably meant for visitors. To the south an oaken door leads out into a central courtyard.
