When you die, and it is not due to a DT:
| Level | Exp loss |
|---|---|
| 1 to 10 | none: deaths are free |
| 11 to 50 | a tenth of the experience you have gained since your level |
So a death never costs you a level, and dying again soon after (on the way back to your corpse, say) costs little or nothing. The game tells you what you lost.
If you are resurrected or reincarnated after you die, you do not lose the experience, but you do lose 1 point of Constitution. You must exit the game upon death, and not re-enter until after the resurrect or reincarnate, for the spell to work.
Corpses are automatically saved over a crash, but you must get back to it before it dissolves, or it may be gone. It is illegal for players to loot the items from your corpse, but monsters and other NPCs take your things quite happily.
