Alignment

In the game: help alignment

Alignment varies from -1000 to 1000 with 0 as perfectly neutral. You are given a rough category for your alignment on SCORE. Alignment of -1000 to -350 is evil, from -350 to 350 is neutral, and from 350 to 1000 is good.

A new character chooses to begin Good (1000), Neutral (0) or Evil (-1000). Rangers and paladins begin Good and druids Neutral, as their oaths demand.

Paladins MUST stay good (350 or more), and Rangers MUST stay good or neutral (above -350). If they fall from grace, they become Warriors forever. Druids MUST stay relatively neutral (between -600 and 600), or they stop being Druids and become Clerics, permanently.

Here are the alignment phrases, as seen on SCORE, from evil to good: Really really bad, Not nice at all, obnoxious as hell, just plain annoying, You feel balanced, Polite, Sweet and caring, A real goody-goody, So good it makes you sick.

Here are partial alignment phrases for the spell 'know alignment', in order: Evil: I'd rather just not say anything, had a bad childhood. Neutral: could be nicer, isn't the worst, doesn't seem to have a firm moral commitment, isn't a bad sort, is often kind and thoughtful. Good: excellent moral character, white as the driven snow.

Here is an oversimplification

If you kill an evil creature, you become more good, and if you kill a good creature, you become more evil. However, random violence is evil, so even killing a neutral creature can make you slightly more evil. If the creature killed is higher level than you, the change in your alignment is more drastic.
