Where you start

Everyone starts in the town of Daleville, on the North Ride. You start wearing armor and wielding a weapon fit for your class, with a lantern, a bag, some bread and water, and 10000 gold.

Levels

Your levels come by themselves: as soon as you have the experience, you have the level, and each level teaches your class's skills and spells for it. They improve as you use them; the Character pane's Skills tab lists them all. You gain experience by winning fights and by using your skills and spells.

Eating and resting

Hungry or thirsty, you hardly heal. Rest or sleep to recover faster, or rest by the font of life at the Common (14 west of where you start), which heals quickly and where no one can fight.

Shopping

The town's shops sell food, water, lanterns, weapons, armor, potions and wands (list, buy, sell). home takes you back to town. Gear left by other players may be in the Training Ground (7 west and 2 north of the start): take what you need, but please do not junk anything you find there.

Fighting safely

Before you attack something, make sure it is not another player, and consider it to see whether it is too hard. Set wimpy to flee automatically when you are nearly dead. Do not kill shopkeepers or guildmasters: they serve everyone.
